DrinaCorps Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 I'm liking what I'm seeing here! I've listened to black, death, and doom metal for years. Lately though, it's all stoner/doom stuff. Church of Misery, Sleep. Bongzilla, High on Fire, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Pentagram etc. CoM is some excellent Japanese doom. 1 Quote

PixeL...?! Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4ih3JVrRPE Couldn't get by without Agalloch Awesome band! I love the post-rock/shoegazing sound that a few bands have adopted, especially Alcest who are one my favourite bands these days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=GhRNN8BIZxE Altar of Plagues are pretty good but their latest album was more than a little disappointing imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=H816ALWLwPo ColdWorld are/were really good too altho' their sound is a little bit harsher. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=m9bdbLWZlqg And not forgetting Lustre... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=p5ILxOGij2w Quote
DrinaCorps Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I've had a focus on the French bm scene and everything that followed since the mid-late 90's, Mutiilation, Vlad Tepes, Mortifera, Celestia, Ad Hominem etc. Alcest and Amesoeurs were some of the best music to materialize out of that clique. I have yet to discover a band that can stand alongside Agalloch for atmosphere. Drudkh and Ulver have come close. Quote

It doesn't get any better than Anorexia Nervosa's "Redemption Process" album as far as I'm concerned http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=yuKSa-Wh7nw Or Nehëmah- http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=UeAY3e2R8GI As for more atmospheric metal, I got around to hearing Eye of Solitude's "Sui Caedere" album yesterday. It's pretty good- http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qyL0lQQ7yIE Quote
