EmtHipple
My laptop screen will go black sometimes but with a very bright light shining on it( ie the sun ) I can still see the desktop icons, to fix it I had rebooted the unit, reloaded the screen software, close the lid and "spank the shit out the lid" this seems to work the best but Im sure it will stop working all together soon. Ideas?
Midnight
Get a new one, or take it to a repair shop. http://www.ehow.com/how_4560492_fix-laptop-black-screen.html http://lcdmonitorrepairguides.blogspot.com/2010/09/laptop-screen-goes-black-2-reasons-for.html - I would think the second reason most likely for you. http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/computers/139636.html - This is a forum thread. A lot of people have posted about this and I think I saw some suggestions in it. Most likely your fluorescent bulb or blacklight inverter is going out and needs to be replaced. What type of computer do you have? Edited June 13, 2013 by Midnight

Midnight
Compaq presario CQ60-418DX Notebook PC and after reading I am almost positive its the back light inverter . Now to find one , thanks Midnight I was trying to see if this was a common problem for this brand and if others had the issue, but I don't even know where to look for that. I'm not the best with reviews. Backlight is on its way out. Probably needs a new inverter board. I so ninja'd you!

Midnight
EMT do you have the maintenance manual? This should give you the specs on the blacklight convertor you need. They vary so you have to make sure you get the right one.

Leader RedBaird Posted June 13, 2013 Leader Share Posted June 13, 2013 This has sales and symptoms: http://www.laptopinverters.net/compaq-presario-cq60418dx-laptop-lcd-inverter-p-3532.html where it says, part: " 5. Dark screen may be caused by Compaq Presario CQ60-418DX inverter or ccfl backlight lamp, inverter is much easier to replace, we advise you to confirm or replace your Compaq Presario CQ60-418DX Laptop LCD Inverter first. Midnight
Thank you RedBaird! Maybe I'll join you again on ET. Maybe... @EMT: I was talking with some buddies of mine, and they agree that it will be the convertor. However, they also state that being as it's in a laptop, it will be slightly harder to get to. Just be careful.
