Update, everyone is ok, minor injuries.

It was a semi-truck carrying a big steel box of some kind that struck many of the support girders which caused the bridge to separate and begin to fall. The trucker was fro a truck company from Alberta Canada and had the proper permits to cross, but they got something wrong.

Wash.State DOT says over 70,000 vehicles use that bridge daily, and the detour roads are woefully inadequate to handle the new strain.

Anyone who ha planned to go north or south on I-5 this weekend for memorial Day should seriously re-think their plans or leave early and be prepared to move very slowly.

Her's the info for the detour routes: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2021049359_bridgedetourxml.html
