Police responded today to reports of shots fired at a Texas college near Houston.

A college spokesman said at least two people were shot at the North Harris campus of Lone Star College, near Houston.

"At first glance, (the shooting) appears to be between two individuals," a spokesman for the Lone Star College system told CNN. "There were two students we believe were shot in the crossfire." He said he didn't know their conditions. One shooter was in custody; the other fled campus, and officers were scouring the area for him, the spokesman said. "Police believe the danger has been mitigated. The school is under control," though evacuations continued, he told CNN. The campus is one of six that makes up the Lone Star community college system.

Police responded to reports of multiple people shot at the North Harris campus of Lone Star College near Houston.

Two people exchanged gunfire Tuesday at a Texas college near Houston, and at least three people were wounded, authorities said.

Investigators said the shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. at the North Harris campus of Lone Star College. The school has posted a notice on its website about the shooting.

"At first glance, (the shooting) appears to be between two individuals," Jed Young, a spokesman for the Lone Star College system, told CNN. "There were two students we believe were shot in the crossfire."

One shooter was in custody; the other fled campus, and officers were scouring the area for him, Young said.

"Police believe the danger has been mitigated. The school is under control," though evacuations continued, Young told CNN.

Maj. Armando Tello of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said three people were injured and one "person of interest" was detained.

Young didn't know if the shooters were students.

KPRC-TV reported that a fourth person suffered a possible heart attack during the chaos.

"It's a pretty chaotic scene at this point in time," Vicki Cassidy, manager of media relations for Lone Star College System, told The Houston Chronicle.

"I heard somebody screaming and after that I heard the shots," one witness on campus told KPRC. The witness said he tried to call 911 but couldn't get through.

Dozens of law enforcement officers were searching a wooded area north of the campus for the second suspect, KHOU reported.

The campus is one of six that makes up the Lone Star community college system.

lets not make this into more than it is. Just a fight between two people and that's all. sucks to be the people in the crossfire but you are more likely to be hit by a car crossing the street, but that doesn't make good headlines
