ShockHawk Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 Wow thats pretty bad,the console versions here are different from store to store, thought they were $100 but at ebgames they are $120 and pc version is $98 but at bigw the console ones are $88 and pc is $72, only difference is that at bigw you cant return it no matter what, at ebgames you can get it replaced if its scratched ive got 2142, its not bad but the snipers arent that great and somehow everyone can see you from ages away when ur invisible, only downside Happy that 2142 is a good game... I have the demo but the lag is awful! Is that a problem with the game/demo or is it just me? (I've been having problems with COD 4 too...) Quote
Kinan Eldari Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Well, if you're having trouble with CoD4 as well as BF2142 then I think there's a good chance it's you. Quote
Malokyte Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Ok then, I have a couple of questions for you. Yes the story is good maybe even great but it's really short. Like, 6 hours short. Multiplayer adds to MW1 but again, the lack of dedicated servers is ANNOYING AS CRAP! A lot of times you are put in a server with only one other person who has really bad internet connection. I've heard that lag is terrible! and it's hard to play games with your friends or a clan. I miss the possibility of choosing which map or gametype I go into. I love creek so I always look for servers playing creek. I don't like headquarters so it's nice to choose servers with no headquarters. In MW2 you just click play and it throws you into a random match. How long have you been playing MW2 multiplayer? Does it lag a lot? And, is it worth it to buy it for pc and not just rent it for the '360? I can't decide whether or not to get this or COD: WaW. I'm not a big fan of WWII but I like realistic shooters. So, what do you say? You're wrong about the matchmaking. You choose the game mode you want to find and it places you in that mode. So if you don't like headquarters, you don't have to play it. You can party up with other players to consistently be in the same room and team (usually, IW needs to fix this a bit) The servers are laggier than a dedicated server even with less players, but they are in general bearable. You'll find a few matches that are hard to connect to, but on average you should have a decent ping. You can't choose the map, pity, it cycles between a few maps. Also, camping and noob tubes are rife throughout the game, so make sure you either have a lot of patience or learn to swear fluently. So really it depends. If you're starting to burn out with MW1 then buying MW2 might not be that bad of an idea. If you like playing casually, MW2 is a fairly good choice, though elitism is already brewing in the game. They're still patching, since it was just released, so it could get a lot better. If you're on the ledge for it, rent it for X-Box and check out the multiplayer on that. If you like the gameplay, a PC investment might be better. Or wait until the price goes down, maybe around Christmas it should have a temporary decrease in price. Quote

In Canada they are still selling COD4 for the same price when it was a new release D=. Only the PC version got a price reduction (10 dollars cheaper). I bet it will be the same for COD MW2 (PC version is better anyways. I bet they will have something good on boxing day). I just got MW2..... Soo did i get ripped off or good deal? I would say good because you live in America. Land of cheap games and electronics ! Quote

ShockHawk Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 So, after many, many hours of research I have decided that, while not great, MW2's multiplayer is alright. It's still fun and enjoyable but your getting what the consoles are getting. With the petition signed by literately everyone, I have hope that things will change. I still can't decide between this or COD WaW... And finally, what is this I hear about hackers creating dedicated servers? Is it true? Is it legal? Quote

Duckie Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Dedicated servers isn't that big of a deal... WaW game play is nothing compared to MW2. Quote
killzone Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Heh, no offense, Killzone, but then I think you're doing something wrong. knowing me, your probably right, somehow im doing something wrong, but it doesnt bother me coz i dont play that often Quote
ShockHawk Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 Dedicated servers isn't that big of a deal... WaW game play is nothing compared to MW2. Yeah, I assumed that but is WaW still a good game? I'm now thinking about getting both. MW2 is a great game with a great multiplayer but it just isn't quite perfect. WaW seems to be really good, it just isn't modern. I might start a post on some site about WaW vs. MW2... I think the part that worries me the most about MW2 is the lag. I've heard that it's really bad and I already struggle with ping so I'm just not sure. Quote
Thomas Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) ok freakin mw2 is amazing...... you can play with clan members and you never half to deal with those nooby people who go 2-34(except when im half asleep =D) and lag? there is some lag but to be honest lag on cod4 was wayy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse i<3 Wa2000 that and mw2 multiplayer is kindof hard to get usto (you cant just run in and spray =C)..
