ajnl Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) So a friend and I want to build a tin can jet, if you don't know what it is, there are videos below. Was just wondering, does anyone have an experience making tin can jets, using RC model jets, or making pulse jets? The ones that I have seen so far on youtube were not stable, but we think we can get one to run on its own without needing an external air compressor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL26D76434E9A5FCC9&v=2c1i_UIEsSM&feature=player_detailpage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu5a7fbMCeI&feature=related Edited September 18, 2012 by ajnl 1 Quote
Levi Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I've built helicopters, this is in a different ball park. haha. Quote
ajnl Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 We decided as a group not to do the tin can jets, but instead try to develop our own type of jet by combining some of the existing jet ideas and adding some new ideas. We'll see how it goes. Our goal is to make a low RPM, high torque jet engine. I've built helicopters, this is in a different ball park. haha. I'd like to see some of them that you've built. I'm also taking a Helicopters course this term, learning all the performance calculations that go with that. What kind of airfoil did you use for the main and tail rotor? Quote
