damage and kills are more important than accuracy, but if you don't pre-shoot much or gib, generally accuracy is proportional to skill. But again, if I play for accuracy I can get 50 and die more, if I play normally I get 40 and I get my normal skill (which is not good but who cares)

Headshots are important as well, I have many times highest accuracy for mp40 and thompson, but I still get owned because I don't make many headshots. And headshots are very important in servers with adrenaline.

My tips:

- try to have a good mouse control (125 fps, good mouse and pad, good sensitivity and settings)

- don't waste bullets for no reason, not because that will lower your accuracy stats (your skill would be the same anyway) but because every bullet you waste, bullet randomness will increase.

- spec some good player (possibly some you trust, not cheaters) and see how they move their mouse, in fight and not.

If you can't move with that smoothness speed and precision, then maybe you can see what is wrong in your movement or mouse setup. There are many 'styles' and many kind of players (low-sensers, high sensers) but no good player has those sloppy movements as bad players, they have control of their movement, whether they fight or not (trickjumps, etc.).

- there are several ways to hold your mouse (palm grip, claw grip, etc.) maybe switching to a new sens or a different mouse grip can help you.

- always control weapon spread (crouch, don't fire blindly if you are not aiming well, etc.) don't stand if you do long-range fights, and so on. At first crosshair pulse could help you to detect weapon spread. But then you probably want it off (unless you use a very small dot).

- as regards mouse sensitivity, try different ones and see which is comfortable, but without getting headaches from too many complex tests, etc. Since sensitivity cannot correct your own brain's mistakes (e.g. mistakes due to reaction times, lack of focus, wrong predictions, etc.) sensitivity can only help you to make the moves your brain wants to do. If your brain tells your hand to keep moving left, when your enemy now moves right, having a good sens won't help.

- some people say shoot in bursts, I would say a big no to this one, but I am not an expert of all mods. I learned et on etpro, and some things are bad for jaymod, especially if adrenaline is involved, for example I crouch too much, I don't save much stamina for fights, I don't necessarily go for the headshots, etc.

But I never release my fire button *unless* I realize my aim is not on target, I never do it if I am on the target, and I have never seen any good player doing it, so I don't know what 'shooting in bursts' would mean

hmm, there is a chain of things: in order to aim well, your brain needs to see where your enemy is, decide/react, and then control your hand, then you need to hit if you aim well.

1. to read your anemy movement well, you need:

- a stable good internet with low ping (no delays or lags, you see the enemy closer to where he really is)

- a monitor without too much input lag, and possibly with a high refresh rate (again, no delays making your reaction time artificially worse)

- a fast pc (actually the server goes at 20fps so it'e all interpolated, but high fps could feel smoother)

- a fast (and possibly young) brain

if your brain fails to read enemy movements you will fail, because you don't know where to aim, and you can only spray and pray.

2 . to be able to move your crosshair the way your brain wants to, you need:

- low ping, high fps, fast pc, monitor with high refresh rate and no input lag (because your brain will get confised if your moves have a delay or they are not smooth)

- good mouse settings

- good mouse and good mousepad

3. to hit when you actually aim well, you need:

- good (low) ping

- possibly hitting first, because if your enemy hits you, and you have a high ping, you stop hitting him even if you still aim correctly

So, high fps is not a magic setting or anything that makes you shoot better even if you're bad, it's just to achieve your real potential instead of playing with a (little) handicap.

I could play more or less the same way with 40 fps, but against strong players (or cheaters) it's already hard, you need to really use your 100% potential (actually I don't because I have a slow cpu and a high ping).

Many times you die and you see your opponent has less than 20 hp left, that means 1 bullet more and you would be the winner instead.

2 tips for help. Sorry, i don't read all this topic.

1- First, don't forget crouch. It's very important crouch when you shoot. It's all time good, same if you do this : crouch, stop crouch, crouch, ...

2- It's good to practice in a server with many bots. Choose a server with really stupid bot (for let you a chance for shoot...). That help to know the movement and follow the target.

Sorry for my english.

For facts, on hardcore I have many times 40% accuracy. For jay it's an other history :P
