ajnl Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) This link will help explain what it is and if it is a virus or w/e. You can also check how to geek. Anyways, if you ever want to know what a process is and if it is dangerous, just search it in google. These were the first two links I found when I typed in: "what is svchost.exe" EDIT: I also found a CNet Article about it, which may help you further. Edited August 26, 2012 by ajnl 1 Quote
Vanaraud Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 you can right mouse click on it, and "go to services" there you can see if it holds legit services or something bizarre. But yeah there are many of them. running basicly whole windows, as I´ve understood. Quote
Glyphz Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 alot of them are for windows services that you really need, I wouldn't disable or terminate any of them. Because it might stop your internet or a application or even shut down your system. Svchost controls : windows security center WLAN Autoconfig Portable Device enumberator service Windows Driver foundation Windows management\ Windows update themes shell hardware dectection diagnostic service host you can go to Control panel - Administrative tools- services and see what each of them do and anything else thats running on your computer Quote
