nani* Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 This is a production that recounts the odyssey in Korengal by U.S. soldiers. Considered one of the most dangerous destinations war, the remote Korengal Valley in eastern Afghanistan was the basis for a group of men who led the American front in the area. The valley was abandoned by the military in April 2010, however, in late 2007, nearly a fifth of the combat in Afghanistan was taking place in the Korengal. The fight was on foot and was fatal, and American control area moved hill hill, a hundred yards at a time. Restrepo, the film won the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, tells the story through the words of the soldiers stationed in the Korengal in 2007 and 2008. Restrepo is a strategic post which was named in honor of the Colombian physician Juan Restrepo, who was killed in action. At the end of the deployment, Hetherington and Junger had shot 150 hours of combat, from boredom, humor, terror and daily life in the combat outpost. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVmkZLqQEUc Quote

KevinBacon Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I've also seen it. Good movie, you get a much more realistic perception of things when they are filmed on-sight, deep in the shit. Quote
