Anyone have suggestions on how to quickly/effeciently level up your skills in the shotguns or sniper rifles? I've not gotten the hang of the sniper rifle (and usually get my ass owned before I get any shots off) :P -- and the shotgun doesn't have the range necessary in most of the maps on the COD4 Beginner server.

I've gotten all the weapons I can access up to this point to their silencer stage (don't see a need right now for the last sight upgrade), with the exception of these two classes.

Thanks for any input.

Shotguns I on beginners, a couple good maps are Vacant, Broadcast, and sometimes on showdown. Lots of close quarter spots there. Just come around corners and blast away. Snipers you'd probably want countdown. I HATE this map, but it is pretty good for sniping. Lots of palces to hide (like in warehouses, behind crates) and just hope for the best.

Also, if you have it, use overkill perk. lets you carry two primary weps. Good for if you're using the shotguna nd find yourself stuck in a distance situation that you can switch to a rifle/MG

Personally, I don't think the overkill perk is necessary, if you can click fast and kill using a pistol :P.

But yea, try close quarter maps. And get the perk where you can run for a longer period of time. If you come to a guy who is just a bit to far out of your range, don't run in a straight line towards them. It'll make it easier for them to kill you. Or find cover and wait for them to get closer.

Sniper, try some long shots, but learning to quick scope or no scope is very useful as well. That way you can kill closer quarters as well as long distance.

Shotguns: use a lot of short range maps. I like defending my bathroom in broadcast for example, and indeed vacant works good to. For showdown I suggest SMG's, but that is not necessary.

Snipers: pick a number of maps with long range, crossfire, countdown, bloc and overgrown. Of course, you can try other maps as well, but there are the snipers less necessary and there only a few campspots for snipers which are usually taken. I suggest to use iron lungs, but personally I have practiced enough to know where people are coming from such that I don't need to watch a long time. Since I was going for gold, I used steady aim, which fits my playing style a lot more. With a barrett in your hands, that is just a second deagle with slightly less aim in short range (and slightly more in long range :P)

*note: I only play on hardcore, where a good shot with deagle/shotty/sniper means the other will respawn.
