finally got version changer but need help

I finally got the version changer working (with Baskas help) so now i can go to all 6 cod servers,

 

problem is, my levels are properly set in only 1 or 2, possibly 3 of them.

 

Can a leader or co-leader please PM a time when they can come with me to each server to make sure i'm properly set? I would really appreciate it. Preferably someone who is on in the evenings pacific standard time zone.

 

the only server i know for sure Im good in is Abner, there may be one other. I'm supposed to be member L3, and in one or two im called a trusted vip.

Does this mean that you can switch between 1.6 and 1.7 now? Before it was such a pain in the a** to play the 1.7 because it would take forever to load the maps if they were modded or custom maps not in the normal rotation. Let me know please!

Yes with a version changer you can switch between 1.6 and 1.7.

There's a few more options though if this one doesn't work :]

ARGGHHH! Haven't been able to play for the last couple of days!

 

Tried to install the version changer but must have screwed it up. Game crashed and wouldn't start on any version. Tried reinstalling multiple times but my install disk is scratched and I was unable to get it working despite all the repair suggestions available online for scratched CD's.

 

Bought a new COD4 through Steam and when I tried to transfer my profile, it reset all my stats. Luckily I have a backup of my profile.

I think I have found a fix for transferring my retail profile to my steam game and will try that tonight.

 

Now I will only be running version 1.7. Guess I'll have to put my fear aside and try the process again if I want to play on Abnerdog.

Only thing you have to do is install it and click on 1.6 and you can play on Abnerdog again..atleast, it was that easy for me, but should be for you too :]

If you want to play 1.7 you can open it with steam or the version changer.. if you want to play 1.6 you can only use the version changer.

 

... This is why steam is better than a disk ;] can re-install ur game as many times as u want

Great! I looked at it and it looks pretty simple. When I get home from work I will try this and hopefully it will work. There was another server, not FA, that I like playing on 1.7. Also I saved my player profile before I uninstalled 1.7 and reinstalled with 1.6. However, it will not let me rename my classes. Like I can rename it, but once I close the game it goes away so all the slots are blank. Any suggestions? Its minor and I have been able to deal with it thus far, but it is just a lil irritating.

Go to your call of duty 4 folder.. go to players > profiles > your name > and open your config file.. you should be able to change it there

Could be also that your GAMEPATH/profiles/profilename/config_mp.cfg is set read-only in right click / properties.

Also you might need to run the game as admin.

I will look that over tonight. I would have autoimatically assumed that since its my computer and I am admin on it that it would automatically set such. Let me look it over tonight. Darn technology!
