asp Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) I'm thinking if I should go and get Guild Wars II when it's out. But, do you have to pay a monthly fee? Or is it just 60 bucks and that's it, you can play for free for the rest of your life? And, ofcourse, how is the game? Could someone tell me some similar games so I can compare? Thanks in advance! Oops, could someone move this topic? I've posted it accidentally in "gamer's garage", thought that thread was about games... Edited May 18, 2012 by asp Quote
RoosterCogburn Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Guild wars is a one time fee. You pay for the game, and thats it. From a lot of the videos I've watched it looks pretty promising. There is no gear grind at max level unless you want the cool looking stuff. You can get the best gear when you hit max from a vendor, so it's equal footing for everyone and relies more on actual skill and teamwork rather than who has better gear/less of a life. And from there you PvP your face off. It is for sure a 100% pvp oriented game, so if that isn't your thing you will be disappointed. There is a 2 different types of PvP in this game. The regular arena type pvp, which is a domination type mode where teams of 5 fight another team of 5 on a battlefield over control of 3(or maybe 5) points, think Arathi Basin in WoW. The other pvp type is World vs. World vs. World. This is more of an epic scale battle. 3 different servers are battling it out over a 2 week period for the control of each others castles, keeps and supply lines. It is a constant battle, it doesn't end until the 2 week mark. And the zone is huge. Massive swarms of parties and clans will be roaming around defending keeps and attacking castles. It looks pretty badass. Quote
FiveMagic Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) ^ The game looks very promising. Its more about fun & depth then grinding ect. Edit: Heres a decent video giving you idea about the game. Edited May 18, 2012 by FiveMagic Quote
asp Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Damn, that sounds and looks nice! Never played WOW, I just don't want to pay for a game and then still pay a monthly fee. But I guess Blizzard can't do it in a different way, since there are 100+ players in the still area so they need a biiiiig connection. But Guild Wars looks really nice! Thanks for the info Quote
