how come punkbuster takes care of hacks and diff things but not aimbot? aimbot effectivley ruins the fun i have playing ET. =[

punkbuster is old, in the past it took care of some aimbots as well, what you say is not correct

 

as regards the 'fun' part, I would suggest you to do this:

1. watch some ettv demo of matches played in lan

2. look what kind of accuracy/damage/wathever skilled players are able to get without any cheat

2b(optional). look what kind of accuracy/damage those guys get in public servers

3. try to get the same yourself, or play for fun if you are not that good.

 

In other words, play to achieve your potential, not to beat enemies. If you are a good or bad player against non-cheaters, you will still be good or bad against cheaters. Cheaters don't change your skill, and 90% of the times (if you are experinced) you know if someone is cheating or not. If you are not experienced, it means you don't play well, so nothing changes.

 

that's what I would suggest, play as if you were playing a single player game against the computer. There are less cheaters around than you think.

I would add on that at looking demos and using demo options to look them teaches also look players differently and catch suspicious player.

Anyway, if you play in FA servers, all the obvious cheaters are banned instantly by admins, and semi-obvious (but obvious to trained eyes) as well.

Less obvious ones are checked, then banned later when proof is found.

 

So what is left is clean players, and a couple of cheaters who are impossible to tell apart from good players, so if you lose against them you would still lose against a good, 'clean', player.

Yes you can look at the DEMO's here and also on Youtube too. BEST training ever is demos been watching alot of them.
