Kat0n Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 It's sad to see there are still tragedies like that in Belgium...Justice system and security system are failing Quote
Nielsvd Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 When I saw it on the news I thought the same about the guy in Norway. It's sad that there are people in society who can kill innocent people and not feel any remorse in doing it! Also somehow when someone is convicted of not one but THREE offenses they're thrown in jail, they're out earlier for "good behaviour" - alright not every person left out early is going to do something idiotic like this but there are a few who do. It's disgusting the fact that he was convicted for rape, violence and carrying illegal weapons and left out early, even if he was just in there for rape then he shouldn't be left out imo because who knows if he will do it again, or something worse? I bet he'll plead for insanity like the guy in Norway and he'll be in a mental hospital instead of a jail cell where he deserves to be. He killed himself, so there won't be any pleading or punishing... thats my question too. Plus why aren't they calling him a terrorist, since clearly he is. I'm not sure if you could consider him a terrorist. Maybe he was mentally ill? Nobody knows wether he did this for any political/religious reasons, which I'd say are necessary for someone to be called a 'terrorist.' 1 Quote

Nobody knows wether he did this for any political/religious reasons, which I'd say are necessary for someone to be called a 'terrorist.' this guy was a known criminal. he had been in jail already. He was not mentally ill, he was known to be pretty stable. he decided to open fire on a group of un-arm people with not only a gun but also using grenades. Terrorists use violence to scare people. Terrorism doesn't need to have political motivations or religious motivations, of course it can have those as well. Terrorism is striking terror in a group of people. terrorism (ˈtɛrəˌrɪzəm) — n 1. systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve somegoal 2. the act of terrorizing 3. the state of being terrorized 4. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.
