OnionKnight Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 And is they press the mute button or turn down your speakers on your laptop? Yup. Best thing to do is build an electric fence around your laptop and then put some guard dogs around it. That way it guarentees the best protection. If you still have time after doing that, building a moat and then a minefield would make it even more secure =D (JK JK i am just trollin) In my opinion the best security would be a lock (probably more reliable). As for software protection, it doesn't seem to do much because if someone really wanted to steal your laptop, it would just book it and run (then take out your hard drive and steal all the info or wipe it. Software can't do anything against that). At least with a laptop lock, they probably will have to waste an extra 2-4 mins cutting it before you come back. 1 Quote

TulsaGeoff Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 What if you set the alarm off and then get kicked out of the library and fail your test because you had no place to study? Not worth it lol Quote

Not worth it lol i also thought of that xDDDD but my concern was more focused on the embarrassing moment in the library and not the 'get kicked out of it' i guess i'll just leave the laptop in the library....i dont think someone would go to the library intending of stealing a pc (i hope) Quote
General Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 And is they press the mute button or turn down your speakers on your laptop? Um, USB stick lock still works when "muted". Ya would set the thing off trying to mute the sound too prob . And then itd look awkward because yu just walked up to that laptop out og nowhere and it goes blaring at u. Quote

Pun intended =D. Hmm sorry Krazy I didn't really read your first post so I thought you just wanted antitheft lol. I don't really think i know of any usb stick that makes a loud noise when you close the lid. But I do know that there is a script available only for the IBM Thinkpad that can do that. Also there is this software called Notebak that claims to "sound an alarm when the lid is closed" but you have to pay like $10 for it (I am not even sure if it works and could be clutterware). Quote
