ShockHawk Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Barret .50 cal or R700? Which one is better and why? (Personally I like the Barret) Quote
Kinan Eldari Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 The barret in my opinion is both the best and the worst rifle you could have. It's got - at times - both the best and the worst accuracy of all the rifles. Sometimes it hits shots you never thought you could make and vice versa. It's not a bad gun since it does more good shots than bad but its inconsistency bugs me. The r700 on the other hand kicks like a bloody mule, but it is by far the most accurate rifle I've used in the game. Anyone who tells you this is wrong and to go for the M40A3 instead is to be ignored immediately for they have no idea what they are talking about. For the best bang for your buck, I would suggest the R700. Quote
Godfiend Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I never bothered using the R700, but instead went straight for the .50. I can't imagine using any other sniper rifle than it, though, as I'm used to the head roll and recoil with it, and can get quite a few kills. On a related note, how many other snipers out there don't hold their breath? Quote
Kinan Eldari Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Depends on the time I get to make a shot, or whether I want to show off. And rarely I do it because somehow I seem to move the crosshair easier when not holding breath. Quote
Demir Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Better just ignore me cause I would say M40 over any of them. I agree with Kinan on the Barrett, its powerful and quick fire rate but the takes all the fun out of sniping to me. The R700 was a pain in the arse for me, I used it long enough to get all the headshots and put it in retirement. I guess I'm just a single shot kind of sniper. Quote
-=Medic=- Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 wait im gonna check my profiles ... yesterday saw something like R700 unlocked ...i need to restart my pc and log in to my second hard drive dedicated for games EDIT: No it wasn't R700 ... lol it was Dragunov thing unlocked ... R700 and 0.50 still locked . well i think i need to play more to unlock all ^^ Quote
FatWolf Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Typically I don't like the Barret. I prefer the bolt-action rifles, R700 and M40A3, I tend to be a more efficient sniper with them. But in all fairness, the Barret .50cal is the only rifle I've successfully used the ACOG scope with. Maybe it's just the inaccuracy of one cancels out the inaccuracy with the other...?! Quote
Cranky:> Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I like bolt action more anyway, but imho M40A3 is still better, especially when you're used to useing it with an ACOG scope. Headshots everywhere! Quote
Loki Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I really dont like either much. They both take forever to settle after a shot. I usually will pick the m40 or drag since they both settle realitively quickly and seem to score a one shot kill fairly often. On another note though, I have found that the best sniper setup I have for the Hardcore servers is a G3 with an ACOG. There is almost no recoil and it will score a one shot kill every time. The drawback to playing on the hardcore server soo much is that I get frustrated going back to the regular server because no one seems to ever DIE when I pop 'em with my G3......oh well M4 & Double-Tap works well enough. PTRS-41 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 m40 for overall effectiveness...... i rarely snipe, since i m very impateint CQB soldier, but i hv seen the best snipers in cod use m40 and they are deadly as hell ... and has least recoil..... great for multiple targets... If u ever come across a player named " OPLOKOMS", spec him.... and u will see what all can be done with m40....its a killer .... barret has got shot register issues..... u shoot some1 in chest and it wont count ....coz of its huge kick or w/e... i dono .. but i use it for its power, fun sometimes... r700 is stylish but huge kick to kill multiple targets... Kinan Eldari Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 If it's multiple targets you want to go for, I'd say an M21 with stopping power. Kicks the least of any rifle, and it's accurate enough to work well with large groups and headshots if you so please. Quote
