I just bought Black-ops for my PC and i put the cd in and my PC isnt registering anything. I remember a few weeks ago i tried to play a cd in it and it didnt work but i thought nothing of it.

You can hear it spin fast for a few seconds then nothing. I have windows and the auto-play doesnt pop up. In fact i cant even open auto-play with a cd in the drive.

YELP!!!! And i checked the drive in its properties and it says its working properly?????

I figured if the drive died or is shot that it would tell me that its not working correctly. Any input would be great. Im not a computer whiz by any means so hopefully someone can help me

I've had that happen. Had to replace my drive so that ti would work. Luckily they aren't to expensive.

If the laser died, then the software still tells you this device is working correctly,so u might just need to buy a new disk drive, and replace it..

Does it show up in Explorer? You might have just accidentally deactivated Auto-Play.

When you click on MY COMPUTER in VISTA or WIN 7 ...

do you see your CD drive in the Removable Storage Devices ? I'd assume you CAN since you said you can check the drives Properties.

do you see DVD RW Drive (D:) Disk1 ?

IF SO, you should be able to CLICK on it to start WINDOWS EXPLORER ...

and then find the correct icon in the list of Files to RUN/Launch either AUtoRun or Setup or something with a title like that

or/ you could RIGHT CLICK on it to Open AUTO PLAY and that should get you going ...

IF NOT ... then try reloading the CD in the tray again, and try again ...

IF STILL NO ... then yeah you might have a dead Drive and need to replace it.

If it was a Driver issue I'd think you'd have it tell you it's not working properly when you check it's Properties.
