Chicken and myself have noticed that we are taking a lot of damage from players with no skill (settle down now kiddies). I asked JoeDirt what the server hitbox value was set to and he advised it was 4.

Here is a player with value 4 hitboxes using priority-box scoring in order of head, feet, torso.

Here is a player with value 5 hitboxes - Advanced (realistic), tight behavior with head, left-arm, right-arm, left-hand, right-hand, torso(2), left-foot and right-foot boxes all tracking animation. Uses closest-box scoring, resulting in more difficult headshots when impeded by other boxes.

As you can see the value 4 hitboxes are huge! These are a high pinger's spray & pray dream.

I suggest setting the hitmode value to 5.

Sorry I should have been more clear - post is in reference to the Jaymod server. ETpub hitboxes should be set to 32.

Jaymod = 4. 5 has hella of antilag problem. We have tested the server once with 5 hitbox and no one wants to play with 15-20% acc.

70% of players will leave with hitmode 5. I am sure 30% of players wouldn't be on all time and by that time you will also leave since you will find no one to shoot at.

Even the hitsounds are different with hitmode 5 which i like but antilag is totally odd. You will not register your shots even though u shoot straight and hence way small hitbox or you can say antilag doesnt works good with hitmode 5.

The hitmode photos which you have posted are stationary ones. In reality with 50 ping vs 150 ping they are way off for both.

Our ETPUB uses 31 since 32 doesn't exist.

Quote from ETPUB documentation:

g_hitboxes [integer]

This is a bitflag cvar that currently supports the following flags:

1

lower the standing player's body hitbox to the shoulders.

2

lower the crouching player's body hitbox to the shoulders.

4

lower the wounded player's body hitbox to a reasonable height

8

lower the prone player's body hitbox to a reasonable height

16

lower the playdead player's body hitbox to a reasonable height

The default is 31 which means use all of the improved hitboxes. Set it to 0 to use the unmodified hitboxes from etmain.

See http://et.tjw.org/etpub/hitboxes/ for comparision screen shots

PS My old post on jaymode forums when we tested hitmode 5.

I've always prefered servers focusing on quality players, so if some white name 250+ pinger stops playing I wouldn't lose much sleep. There are so few quality servers nowadays that I don't see it as a problem.

Even the hitsounds are different with hitmode 5 which i like but antilag is totally odd. You will not register your shots even though u shoot straight and hence way small hitbox or you can say antilag doesnt works good with hitmode 5.

You've played on the BB server, which runs hitmode 5 boxes - do you see the same antilag issue on their server aswell? I think this is just the nature of the hitboxes and players shooting styles, hitmode 5 requires a player to be more percise and use burst firing as opposed to holding down the mouse and just aiming.

The hitmode photos which you have posted are stationary ones. In reality with 50 ping vs 150 ping they are way off for both.

Now this is were antilag comes into play. My problem is when I start receiving body damage from a high pinger I almost have no chance in avoiding some of that incoming damage, the torso box is so big I end up receiving alot more damage then I should be.

There are people on the server, vent and here that have the experience to help streamline the server. I can have a look a the server config if you like.

Cheers

.bb doesn't run hitmode 5. I know what they run but it would be beyond my rules to say what they run. Sorry.

You can ask to Nerf or BH for your confirmation.

I personally want to run hitmode 5 but that's not at all possible with present Jaymod antilag.

You would have more benefit on other 150 ping players rathen then 150 ones on you. Theoritically and practically both.

Its just not about white name players. Antilag sucks up more beyond your imagination with hitmode 5. Can you post one server IP with hitmode 5? Doesn't matter .6b or .55. I would like to see that is it just my settings with hitmode 5 are odd. If yes then I could fix it. But if they have same effect then you need to ask to Jaybird as I did to fix it since Jaymod is not open source mode.

lol at lobbying to make a jaymod server more pro...

No seriously it could be. If Jaybird fixes his antilag issue it could be really awesome. Even he knows what problem is but i guess it's taking long time for him to push new Jaymode out.

why not?

And I'm sure with all your help we could make out of this a pretty decent outcome in the 2.55 version.
