Other I need to know what software I should use to view demos from cheater reports

What do you guys generally use ? I have VLC media but it doesn't read the videos I download.

At least, that's how i do it.

 

Further points to consider:

- If it doesn't find out the demo, you need to load the appropriate mod so the file path will be the right one

- Before that, you might want to rename the demo file to something easy, like the name of the player you are focusing on.

- The file extension is dm_83 by default, if it's not the case, like its dm_84 or else, you need to type the full file name. Ex: /demo snakey   =>  /demo snakey.dm_84

 

 

 

 

I tested, nothing happened. The z4nkro cheater report demo is dm_83 format, so I shouldn't have to write the whole name of it. I also loaded Jaymod which was the mod the potential cheater was on. Instead, these messages appeared on the console :

oh For sure, just do it via an existing config and as you do things such as timescale etc etc just do /bind in console. Once all done just do /writeconfig demoviewer or whatever u want to name and wall la! Just /exec demoviewer when viewing demo n done 😄

If your file is already in the right format, no need to add any file extension.

 

I am feeling the demo is either not at the right place, or it is not the right file name: can you locate the demo file in the right directory of the right install ?

the path should resemble something like "ETLegacy\jaymod\demos".

The demo automatically sets a name for the file which is based on date, time and map. So if you haven't renamed the file yet, it should look like "2024-08-06-181735-warbell" (hence the name for renaming 😉).

If the demo file is not present in there, please look for it before anything else, typically by making a search of the file on the entire ET install, and if not, on the entire disk; then once find, move it to the above directory.

 

Just for future reference, please note that it is the mod that the player who recorded was on, not the mod of the potential cheater, though obviously, if you're on same server, you should be under same mod.

I think I almost managed to make everything work. I have one more issue though : once I clicked on the demo I wanted to view, the map kerkyra wasn't recognised, which is the map the demo was recorded on. What do I do now ?

look up the maps name and download it under files on the forums
