What is your favorite musical genre?

Hello again.
I've already seen many music threads, but not one in particular where we can discuss our musical tastes ? (especially musical genres).

The dynamic consists of listing your favorite musical genre and why. Also, as a bonus, listing your least favorite.

 

I'll start:

 

I love Indie (alternative) because each song sounds different and I don't get bored. I see that songs are made not to sell but to reach people :D.

 

And the genre I don't like is hip-hop. I'm sorry to say, but somehow I can't get past the genre hahaha. Since I'm from Peru, "Trap" music (basically Latin American hip-hop) has become popular here, and I don't like it at all. At most, I listen to one song out of 100 that are played on the radio.

Big fan of older rap/hiphop but dont like the mumbling shit and other new stuff so i guess u could say im a "oldhead". Also i do like many subgenres of EDM like drum n bass & Deep house etc.

 

Least favorite id say is all kinds of metal and other stuff like that sounds more like theres an ongoing murder instead of a song ?

Favorites are Classic Rock/Metal/Progressive/Jam bands/Funk/Jazz

 

Least favorite is probably country, but there's a lot of older country I like, I just don't like the new age pop country stuff that comes out.

Hardcore, Punk, Metal, Post-Punk, Rock in general, New Wave, Synth Rock, my beloved 80's. 

 

Examples: Pantera, Metallica, Biohazard, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, New Order, Nine Inch Nails, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Roxette, Pennywise, Run DMC, Sepultura, Duran Duran, Erasure, Offspring, Tina Turner, Bauhaus, Ramones, David Bowie, etc...

 

Also I Like classical music like Beethoven.

 

And Enya, plus some zen music too sometimes.

What I listen to most is fairly classic rock, but then I listen to a bit of everything thanks to the radio.

[United Blood]

Drum and Bass, Jungle, UK Hip Hop, Grime, and Any Hip Hop from the 90s.

 

A lot of old classics from the 1990s.  Oldskool Jungle, Hard House, Techno

Ska, Folk, Reggae, Ragga Jungle, Hip Hop instrumentals

I love all kind of music from classical to techno, especially trance, and also British rock (Queen, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, etc.); i had a progressive rock period some 30 years ago, and still love it (King Krimson, Yes, early years of Pink Floyd)

 

I occasionally listen to 

- hip hop

- Reggae

- Ska

- American Folk/Country (like Neil Young)

- New Age

 

I'm really not a fan of:

- all forms of Metal

- Pure rap 

- K-pop

i also like the 80's like The Cure / and b52's/ 2 belgen
i like the 90's trance records and belgian retro
and ofcourse the genre that i make myself: Acid !
everything with a 303 bassline but mostly underground Tekno

When i'm on the way somewhere with car luv listen to rap but if i'm in a game I prefer minimal..it just gives a little kick ^^

For me, the question should rather be: What music don't you listen to? Because I actually listen to all kinds of genres. I listen to metal the most, but also totally different styles like hard techno or hip-hop or 80s etc., depending on my mood. The only thing that doesn't work at all is raggae, Country and K-pop, and stuff like that.
