Line Out
The other day, i was on Silent #1 (because no one goes on HC any more ) .....its where i land most days and nights. anyway, we all vote on a map and it won. it was not a very popular map. for some reason, it is rare to find someone that likes to play Baserace, but it won the vote. during the countdown, a LOT of people started complaining that if baserace plays, they were gonna drop and they hated the map so the admin (right or wrong, you decice and ill refrain from where i land on it too) ended the map before it started and we played beer run or one of the 5 maps that is always voted on. a bit of debate went on in chat and it was mentioned that if anyone has any ideas on how to manage this, please provide them......... So....how about this, any and all suggestions are welcome for debate: make Silent #1 a 5 map server. can you make it a rule that if a map has not played in....oh, i dono, 69 maps, AND it was voted on by the players, you cannot cancel/veto/end the map....(you know, the will of the people) go with the will of the people and remove maps that make peole drop....like warbell and baserace and radar and ....i dono, anything that is outside the top 10 maps..... Thats all i got man. thoughts? 1
!MX
Hello mate, good morning! 16 hours ago, Line Out said: ended the map I would like to ask. When you say "ended the map", you mean, started a "next map vote"? If yes, in my honest opinion, this is not correct. If ppl voted for a map, it needs to be played, this is a democracy and this is how it works. However, i would like to bring a few moments. Sometimes, ppl forgot to vote and example: Only 4 players (2 axis vs 2 allies) and pick up italy as map. For me, if they reach an agreement, then, we can change the map, it´s a common sense. But, they can say: "no, we will play even being 2 x 2", so, i wouldn´t start a "next map vote". In a few words, i would only use "next map vote" with few players, becoz you guys can use a commom sense and change to the next one. 16 hours ago, Line Out said: o with the will of the people and remove maps that make peole drop....like warbell and baserace and radar and ....i dono, anything that is outside the top 10 maps About that, i don´t know how familiar you are with our forums, but we have a topic that you can suggest maps to our server, please, feel more than welcome to make some suggestions and we will have the pleasure to look on it - For the last, sorry about what happened. As you said, baserace is at our map list, however, only few regulars / admins like it. 4
Cross Marian
Another thing to take into consideration is how many people voted. For example, it's 10v10 at the end of a map (20 active players without counting spec): Case #1 : If a less popular map is voted with only 6 points (only 2 people voted for it) and most players forgot to vote. Then, I would probably let the next map vote go on if someone calls for it. Because it would be better than having most players disconnecting. And I agree, players by now should know how it goes, they should know better and vote directly,... but reality sometimes is not ideal. Case #2 : If a less popular map is voted but gets like 30 points (10 people voted for it). Then I would !cancel a next map vote if any came up. Gotta respect democracy, even if the map is less popular. Enough people voted for it and won fair and square. Regarding the most popular maps, there is already a script that prevents them from popping in the voting list for 7 or 8 turns after they've been played. 6
