JaxNL Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Hi guys, I wanted to play on the F|A server again after being offline for several years. However, it seems I got automatically banned for using a VPN. The thing is, my McAfee Virusscanner currently uses VPN automatically to secure the safety of my computer. I tried to turn it off and rejoin the F|A servers but the ban still exists until the year 2035. I did try to connect to other servers and I could play without any problem. Is it possible to get unbanned or what steps do I need to take? Thanks in advance, Kind regards. Quote
Leader Solution RedBaird Posted August 20 Leader Solution Posted August 20 (edited) The "ban" refers to the VPN/Proxy IP, not to you. If you 'disconnect' the VPN, you should be able to rejoin the server. It happened on Jay#1, I presume? The "JaxNL" name was last seen by TBS over 3700 days ago! 😮 https://et.trackbase.net/player/5065870/ 😄 JaxNL Welcome back! Edited August 20 by RedBaird TBS info 5 Quote
Leader RedBaird Posted August 21 Leader Posted August 21 (edited) He has not been back on forums since he made this topic. A "Jax" with a Netherlands flag was seen playing 3 maps on another server at about that time : [et.trackbase.net] » Statistics for player: jax Edited August 21 by RedBaird 2 1 Quote
JaxNL Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 Thanks for your prompt reply RedBaird. My current username when I tried to connect on the Beginners #2 server was Pablito. This was last Saturday. I did try to reconnect when I 'disconnected' the VPN in my antivirus but the ban was still showing Up (on the F|A Servers, my favorite). I did play a couple of maps on another server (CLAN.UK | FUN!!) During that time. Any other tips you might recommend? P.s. I will be off a couple of days so excuse me in advance for a late reply. 1 Quote

Maybe it was "scheduled" to turn off at next startup??? What antivirus program are you using? I might be able to find what "ranges" of IPs its proxy-service is providing. 1 Quote
phir0x Posted August 23 Posted August 23 @JaxNL Sent you a PM. Did you follow these steps on disabling the VPN ? https://www.mcafee.com/support/s/article/000001913?language=nl_NL 1 1 Quote

Have you ever had that Proxy turned on and been blocked from these forums? You are not using the "McAfee Web Gateway 10.2.x " are you? The manual is 799 pages and looks "professional". 😄 Well, turning McAfee VPN on or off is pretty simple: Quote How do I turn off McAfee VPN on Windows? Click Show hidden icons in the bottom right of the taskbar. Right-click the McAfee app icon in the list. Click either Turn off VPN or Turn on VPN. There should be some way for JaxNL to see if it was turned off immediately. My first thought is by using IPconfig in a CMD window. Edited August 23 by RedBaird @ JaxNL lines 3 Quote
JaxNL Posted September 5 Author Posted September 5 (edited) I want to thank you all for your solutions and replies. All of your replies were helpful, so I don't know which one to choose as solution. Tried back again to disable the VPN from McAfee and started ET again, seems to be connecting to the F|A servers and I played for 15 minutes.. (need a little bit of training after a couple of years :-)) Back under the name of JaxNL. Looking forward to play with you! Edited September 5 by JaxNL 3 1 Quote
