There exist tons of different versions and revisions, limiting the scope of the map, set in different years of the war or having slightly different rule sets. Played it a lot with my brother and some friends growing up and over the internet via e-mail (you would send all your moves in text form to your opponent who would then reproduce them on his own board and vice versa).
