RockstarBe
This review contains NO SPOILERS so feel free to read. Game was played on PC. Story: Aloy was cast out from the Nora(a tribe) and raised by an outcast named Rost. As a child she discovered a "cave" with a lot of devices built by the Old Ones, where she finds a Focus - a small AR device that helps her special perceptive abilities. After coming of age, she trains a lot to win the Proving, a competition to win the right of becoming a Nora Brave and therefore a member of the tribe. During the Proving competition Nora's are attacked by the cultists. When Aloy awakes, Teersa, one of the Matriarch, explains that the cultists had gained control of corrupted machines. Aloy learns that she is an infant found near a sealed door. Aloy locates the remnants of the company Faro Automated Solutions and discovers that the old world was destroyed nearly 1,000 years ago after Faro lost control of its automated Peacekeeper military robots. After some time Aloy get in touch with Sylens to find out what happened with the Old Ones and how she was borned. Aloy eventually learns that "her mother" was sent to an Oribital Launch Base to complete the Project: Zero Dawn located at the Citadel the centre of Eclipse power. Aloy heads for the base and inside, she finds out that Zero Dawn was a vast underground system of databases, factories, and cloning facilities controlled by a single artificial intelligence, GAIA. Once all life had been extinguished, GAIA developed a countermeasure to deactivate all of the Faro robots and build its own robots to restore the Earth's biosphere. Once the planet was habitable again, GAIA reseeded life on Earth based on stored DNA and taught the first human clones not to repeat their predecessors' past mistakes. Gameplay: Here it becomes very interesting because, like any other RPG, it is full of possibilities. Many side-quests have interesting stories, some are super funny. Upgrade systems, a vast world with a lot of activities, many weapons with a variety of arsenal, armor, fast travel and many other things that can be collected/bought. (I'll let the screenshots speak for themselves.) Graphics look absolutely astonishing. Character models are well made as well. I like the way the Decima Engine perceives sunlight and moonlight, developers did a very good job. On the other hand, the game was launched on PC with a little scandal considering the optimization. Sometimes it happened to me to see a lot of wasted textures for no reason, enemies stuck and so on. But Guerilla (developers) listened to the community and fixed most of the bugs. The game is 100% playable so no worries. Combat: The game leaves you the choice of how you want the action to unfold. You can go stealth or direct rambo. Regardless of your choice, there is no wrong decision. With a well-developed arsenal you can wreak havoc. Using Focus you can see the weaknesses of the enemies. You have a lot of bombs, bows, spears, tripwires, weapons to choose from. Everything can be modified. The decision is yours. Thank you for reading my review. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Edited October 27, 2021 by RockstarBe 3 1
