slac is a new mod for et, i tried it and its almost lag free and great fps

check it out

there are few servers on 2.6

i tried it

u can download slac software from www.sl-anticheat.com

and u have to create an account to use it !

 

can we move F|A 2 to slac instead of turning off pb ?

While I don't usually play Jaymod, the idea of forcing everyone that does play create a SLAC account doesn't sound to appealing.

Harder to catch anyone if your servers empty b/c noone cares to sign up on another forum to use an A/C very few servers use ATM. If it was more popular I could see a good reason.

Cool, that's almost as many members as on F|A forums.

 

I"m not saying SLAC is bad. Far from it. I like the fact PB has some decent competition. But no support for linux or mac mean your leaving some people w/o a place to play. Until it's server side I think this thread covered it pretty well SLAC.

Just pointing out the facts, which you seem to be unaware of. I could go on, of course, by informing you that a Linux version is supposed to be coming out very soon, since the maker of the anti-cheat runs his PC on Linux.. but it appears to be pointless. So, please continue constructing your opinion based on topics you read on this forum.

In any event, for your average pubber, they're going to look at what they have to do and walk away to another server - and let's be honest, the average pubber isn't going to be smart enough do what they need to between SLAC and PB (i.e. that if you're running SLAC on a PB enabled server, you'll get kicked for it). When there's another annoying step between a player and a server, they'll just skip on to the next one.

 

That's ignoring the fact that because it's client side, and the data gathered is only accessible by chaplja, there's no way to track cheaters like we can now with a service like PBBans (which tracks and crossreferences IPs and GUIDs, making it easy to see if somebody has been caught cheating before). Server admins loose that ability when they enable SLAC. I see no reason for you to be so peremptory in your post, especially as he was being very civil.

the server client wont need or require ppl to create account, thats what it says in the interview in crossfire. so just a download like any map or anything when u connect at server .

Perhaps I was a bit harsh.. but the fact remains that too many people post concerning things of which they have little knowledge.

 

Anyway, as far as the OP goes: there will never be a SLAC version for Jaymod, that's retarded.

Pay chaplja to make a Jaymod compatible version and he'll do it. It was made as a competition anti-cheat, no point in making it into pub AC if PB works fine to a certain extent.
