Mouse not captured in-game?

Hey guys, I thought I'd try out TF2 despite finding the cartoon-like appearance hideous; and so I joined our server..

Unfortunately there was noone else there (empty server) but I thought I'd try the controls anyway... But I found that for some reason I have absolutely no mouse movement.. Playing on a laptop so I tried the touchpad/trackpad too but it still didn't move at all.. Anyone know what could be wrong?

I also have no clue how to change class once I've selected a class when joining the game xD But that's another story the in-game tutorial can tell me :)

Additional info: The mouse works throughout all menus and in the Esc menu in-game.. Just not when I'm actually in control of my character..

I don't know anything about mouse movement, but you can change your class by pressing comma (by default) and team by pressing " . ". (again, by default). You should be able to change those keybinds in the menu.

Edit: Are you using a macbook? If you are, I found these 2 tidbits (src) "Try trashing Macintosh HD/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/<steam user>/team fortress 2/and launching TF2." and "Do you have raw input on? If it is, you can turn it off with the console using "m_rawinput 0"."

Edit no2: You can enable the console through "options->advanced->enable developer console" and change the keybind under keybinds (misc->toggle dev. console).

Edit no3: I did some more searching, and it seems to me that most mouse-not-working problems are found on macbooks with raw input enabled, and that disabling it through the console (see edit 1) should fix them.

Sorry dude, I never saw your edits - I'm not using a Mac :( Using my touchpad or mouse causes NO x or y movement :( I can't play at all so I just stopped trying..
