The Force will need to be strong with old Luke Skywalker. YouTube channel Star Wars Korea released a new TV spot for "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" on Sunday. While most of the footage in the 30-second movie trailer has appeared in previous clips, the first few seconds feature new footage. It shows just how strong the dark side has become in the 30 years since the Empire was defeated in the Battle of Endor. In the clip, which you can watch below, we see hundreds -- if not thousands -- of Stormtroopers who belong to the First Order, the evil organization that is all that is left of the old Empire. The troops are all looking up at the leaders of the movement, who will include Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and others. In the background are several TIE fighters and what appear to be new AT-ATs, painting a brief picture of a truly formidable army. It looks like the heroes of the former Rebel Alliance -- now known as the Resistance -- have their work cut out for them. The battle will begin later this year, when "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," directed by J.J. Abrams, is released. It premieres in theaters on December 17 in Australia, and December 18 in the US, UK and elsewhere. Source http://www.cnet.com/

DICE's upcoming shooter Star Wars: Battlefront will not include a map set on the Death Star, the iconic fictional spacecraft from the sci-fi series. A DICE community manager shared the news in a post on Reddit, where a fan asked if there would be an infantry-focused map set on the ship itself. "We will not offer a Death Star-based map," the manager said. "But stay tuned for details around the maps we will offer." There will be a total of 12 maps available on day one, with more presumably to come later as DLC. We already knew that Battlefront will not include space battles, but the DICE manager teased that if the studio gets to work on a sequel, "I think it's a safe bet to say we will look into it." DICE also confirmed that there will be Star Destroyers flying by in the sky on other maps, but you will not be able to shoot them down. Source http://www.gamespot.com/

A tweet from the space station shows Samuel L Jackson's character Mace Windu Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have revealed they have celebrated Star Wars Day by screening one of the sci-fi movies. "Just watching @starwars. In space. No big deal," Nasa tweeted from one of its official accounts, adding the hashtag #Maythe4thBeWithYou. It is not the only recent tie-in. Members of a forthcoming expedition to the ISS posed as Jedi knights for their official photo earlier this year. The choice of film surprised some. "You picked the wrong one!" tweeted Angel Dominguez, referring to the fact that a photo sent from the satellite shows Mace Windu's battle with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in the prequel Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, rather a scene from the original trilogy. The ISS was recently fitted with a high-definition projector, which the astronauts also use for video conferences and displaying computer software. Commander Scott Kelly revealed last month that the team on board had also used it to watch the space disaster movie. Six members of an expedition scheduled for September have appeared in Jedi garb The latest movie showing was timed to coincide with the date, which references the series' most quoted line: "May the force be with you." Lightsaber missionThe ISS was previously linked to the space opera in 2007, when character Luke Skywalker's lightsaber prop was flown to the orbiting structure and back to mark 30 years of the franchise. Such stunts only add to the series' value by keeping it in the public eye. Disney is set to be the beneficiary of the latest publicity, having bought the rights to Star Wars from its creator George Lucas in 2012, along with other movie rights, for $4bn (£2.6bn). Analysts are expecting that the first in a new series of films, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will set a new box office record when it is released in December. Nasa previously flew a lightsaber prop to the International Space Station One expert quoted by The Hollywood Reporter has forecast it could make more than $500m in its first three days in cinemas. However, efforts to further extend the franchise have faced a setback with news that the director of a planned spin-off is no longer involved. "I've put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities," Josh Tank said in a statement published on the official Star Wars site last week. Star Wars: Battlefront Won't "Feel Like or Play Like" Battlefield, Producer Says "I simply don't get the Battlefield re-skin comment." Following the official announcement of DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront shooter last week, some gamers have begun voicing their concerns that it's nothing more than a "re-skin" of the Swedish developer's most famous franchise, Battlefield. Now, one DICE producer has spoken out to challenge that assertion. Jesper Nielsen, an assistant producer at the DICE support studio Uprise who uses the handle "TheBikingViking" on Reddit, responded to a fan's concerns by promising that, while Battlefield and Battlefield share some shooter similarities, they will play quite differently. "I simply don't get the Battlefield re-skin comment," he said. "From what we've shown, in what way does it look like Battlefield? Are you seeing tanks, lots of destruction, etc? This will not feel like or play like Battlefield. That's never been our intention." "To some extent, all shooters are similar," he added. "Heck, to some extent, all games are similar. To my mom, all games are probably more or less the same, right? So it always depends on the person looking at it. I'm pretty sure a hardcore Counter-Strike player would say the differences between Counter-Strike and Battlefield or Halo or Call of Duty are like day and night. It's always about the lens you use, how far you zoom in. To some people, the details matter less--to others they matter more." Nielsen's comments follow those from DICE producer Patrick Bach, who earlier this week listed off the reasons why Battlefront is so much more than a big-budget Battlefield mod. Nielsen has kept busy responding to all manner of comments, some negative, about Battlefront. Another topic he addressed was the fact that the game will not have space battles (though it will have air combat). He pointed out that DICE is "still discussing" space battles from time to time, and explained that the developer understands that this game mode would have "some very exciting prospects." "So of course that would be fun to explore! When and if that will happen is impossible for me to say, but no, we're not saying that space battles are evil and that we will never, ever touch them with a ten-foot pole," Nielsen said. In addition, Nielsen provided a brief explanation for why the massive AT-AT vehicles won't be drivable in Battlefront. He said there were many factors that made up this decision, though he wasn't personally involved in making the call. "There's a lot of things going into a decision like this," he explained. "Again, this wasn't my decision and I wasn't involved in it, so I don't want to make statements, but rest assured that these things are often not obvious yes/no decisions, but have a lot of pros and cons and have included lots of experimentation." Battlefront launches for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 17. People who pre-order the game will receive the Battle of Jakku expansion on December 1, while everyone else will get this free content a week later on December 8. Source:Gamespot
