  1. UK authorities have arrested six teens who allegedly used the hacking group Lizard Squad's "Lizard Stresser" tool. This is a "boot-for-hire" service, which allows paying customers to nominate a website they would like to see taken down for a fee. Lizard Squad claimed responsibility for the infamous Christmas Day Xbox Live and PlayStation Network attacks that brought down both online platforms during the holiday. The "Lizard Stresser" tool uses DDoS attacks, which basically overwhelm servers with too much data, rendering them inaccessible or in a heavily compromised state. The six UK teens were nabbed as part of an initiative called "Operation Vivarium," carried out by the country's National Crime Agency (NCA). They were not members of Lizard Squad itself, but instead only used the Lizard Stresser tool. Officers from various police forces and Regional Organized Crime Units were involved in the new wave of arrests, which took place August 24-27. From a news release: "Those arrested are suspected of maliciously deploying Lizard Stresser, having bought the tool using alternative payment services such as Bitcoin in a bid to remain anonymous. Organizations believed to have been targeted by the suspects include a leading national newspaper, a school, gaming companies, and a number of online retailers." The release doesn't specify which companies were attacked, but Bloomberg has heard from a source that Amazon, Microsoft, and Sony were among the targeted. Those arrested, all males, range in age from 15 to 18. They were nabbed last week, following the arrests of two other males in March and April of this year. Click here for a full rundown of those arrested. The NCA also says it is visiting about 50 addresses linked to people registered on the Lizard Stresser website. However, these people are "not currently believed to have carried out attacks." Instead, authorities are meeting with them to inform them that DDoS attacks are illegal and can lead to stiff penalties in the future if they don't stop. “By paying a comparatively small fee, tools like Lizard Stresser can cripple businesses financially and deprive people of access to important information and public services," NCA Cyber Crime Unity boss Tony Adams said in a statement. “This multi-agency operation illustrates the commitment of the NCA and its partners to pursuing people who think they can criminally disrupt important public services or legitimate businesses." "One of our key priorities is to engage with those on the fringes of cyber criminality, to help them understand the consequences of cyber crime and how they can channel their abilities into productive and lucrative legitimate careers." The Lizard Stresser tool was itself hacked earlier this year, exposing details of the thousands of people listed on its registry. For its part, Lizard Squad has responded to the recent raids. 2. Heya Folks! I've finally managed to afford a copy of Watch_Dogs, which was a much anticipated game, launched in May 2014. Granted, because I have purchased it 4 months from it's release, many bugs have been fixed, and that might add bias to the review. This is a review of the Deluxe version, which adds some special DLC content. This is a very unique game. It's action, FPS, Open-World... all things we've seen before. But this is the first game where you can hack other people, and with a seamless multiplayer element to it as well. It also includes many mini-games, which include driving, gambling, drinking, hacking, etc. I would not hesitate to say that this is what Saints Row IV should've been, despite the fact that I love that game as well. There are two versions of the game available for download. The standard edition costs $59.99 USD, the deluxe edition costs $69.99. I would not expect a price-drop for awhile because of the high demand for the game. Watch_Dogs is set in Chicago, IL, playing as one Aiden Pierce where everything is connected via a central computer system, known as ctOS (CenTral Operating System). This includes cell phones, traffic lights, routers, cars, etc. The plot starts off dramatically, where the protagonist's family is killed in a horrible accident that was set to happen due to Pierce's notoriety. Using the ctOS as the primary weapon, having Intel on every citizen and traveler in the city, you embark to get justice as well as control the corruption of the city. Watch_Dogs is known for being one of the most graphically intensive games at the moment, with lofty minimum system requirements that state a SLI-ready card to play the game... but I've found this is not the case, and I will write my own "minimum system requirements". But do not fear, even at the "Low" settings, the graphics blow many other games' high setting out of the water. Processor: 2.4 GHz Quad Core processor (AMD Athlon II x4 series, Intel Core2Quad minimum) Graphics: AMD Radeon HD6xxx or above (Sorry, do not know NVidia equal), 1GB GDDR3 video memory. Memory: Suggested is 6GB, I say 8GB to avoid any disk caching, and the ability to keep applications running in the background. Pros: Graphics, Long Gameplay time, featuring over 9 "acts", with 10 or so missions per act. Mini-games, and ctOS crime control offer hours of entertainment even while not on the campaign. Realistic shooting, ie shooting someone in the leg will slow them down, not kill them, etc. Physics system is pretty realistic. Graphics are amazing Cons: Driving is *alright*, but definitely more fun over realism. But then again, this isn't a racing simulator, names of the cars do not appear when you get in them, and I have yet to be able to blow up a car. You can make smoke pour out, but that's about it. My rating is an 8.5/10 with the 1.5 deduction coming from the cars. I would certainly recommend this game if you are interested in strategic gameplay, with fast paced action, and an intriguing story.
  3. Today, I received a very disturbing email in my inbox from Sophos. As an IT Project manager, I feel the need to be up to date on all known vulnerabilities for my customers- and for myself. And unfortunately for those who are non-believers, Sophos is the world's leading firm in IT security- so I'm pretty sure that your cocky attitude on how you waste 80 bucks a year on AntiVirus and Firewall software is about to kick you in the a**. These models below are affected, and the administration panel can easily hacked into- just by changing the user string that your browser sends. The user string, as some people know it, is the clumsy and slow way that web browsers tell servers how to display the information. That's why you get mobile sites on your smartphone, Internet Explorer 8 and below displays pages horribly, and how YouTube knows you need a flash update. And that silly little thing could allow someone to steal all of your information. Here are the known hackable D-Link routers (there's probably more, it's like cockroaches) DIR-100 DI-524 DI-524UP DI-604S DI-604UP DI-604+ TM-G5240 For those of you interested in the "backdoor" look at how this backdoor was found, here ya go: http://www.devttys0.com/2013/10/reverse-engineering-a-d-link-backdoor/ Remember these big tips: WPS is bad, bad, bad. UPnP can make life easier, it can cost you a fortune. If your router doesn't support WPA2, buy a new one. MAC Address Filtering does nothing but deter wannabe hackers. Ever heard of packet sniffing? Perhaps it's time to use a VPN depending on the work you do, and where you do it. Good luck everyone, and stay safe. Remember, don't click on those pop-up ads.
  4. Wuz up all dont know where to put this so I hope its cool here.I was wondering is there a way to show us noobs what to look for to catch someone hacking I dont know what a aimbot or wall hack looks like never used one so it would be nice to know what they are and what they look like so we can better help to keep the servers clean I have tried to download demos but alot are for COD or are older ver. ET like dm82 files and I use 2.06b so maybe some tutorials on what to watch for would be nice to see I know I would learn from them.
