Whenever I answer someone where I'm from and they say they googled it, I always google it myself so I could once again see what they saw while searching it. There's always a comment of how pretty Split looks or something like that. But people... Split is the most beautiful city in the world, I swear to god It seems I'm promoting it for the 2nd or 3rd time already, but I'm just in love and I want you to be too. I want you to come here and have an amazing time because I love you. It would suit me because I'd get to meet you and/or your families/friends, and it suits you because you get to see Split and have the best days/weeks in your life. I'll be your guide (or won't of course, if you prefer to have a tour by yourself or by an expert, which would be infinitely better for you but don't be a jerk! ), and I'll be your quick quide with some link & pictures below. First of all, Split was founded around Diocletian palace, built at 4th century AD. It's not actually a palace per se, it's so massive. It's more like a huge fortress. It's protected by UNESCO as a world heritage and a cultural good of Croatia. Right now, you have tons of bars, coffee shops, souvenir shops, restaurants, clubs, etc in it, but also typical palace homes, apartments and courtyards because lots of people live in it. It also sustains The Cathedral of Saint Domnius, peristyle, The Vestibule, 3500 year old Egyptian granite sphinx, Jupiter's Temple, Diocletian's Palace's underground complex... Sea is AMAZING, so clear you wanna cry just by looking at it. Beaches are pretty good too, but a bit crowded. Good thing is there's a ferry port right in the city centre, and a ferry takes you to 7 nearby islands. All DROPDEAD gorgeous. To name a few; Brač, Hvar, Vis, Korčula, Šolta, etc. Ferry tickets are cheap, and if you wanna take the car with you, it's not much either. Night life during summers is amazing, and as I stated few times before, you have a few festivals if that's your sort of a thing. If it is, you better hurry and book something now If it's not, it's better not to come during these cca 7 days (more accurately July 15th, 16th, 17th) because Split's PACKED during. You won't be able to find a bed anywhere, and it's so crowded. I personally don't like it much (the crowd and the mess), but I visit festival nevertheless. It's fun. Prices are tiny bit higher during summer, because after all we are a tourist destination. However, it's still pretty damn cheap. Shops, restaurants, museums, public transport, theathre, clubs, drinks, accomodation... It's all pretty cheap. We have forest park Marjan in the middle of the city too, its a hill on the peninsula of the city of Split, completely surrounded by the city and the sea. It has several beaches, but you can swim wherever you want and we use it for that, also for jogging, sports, etc. In the distance of 15min drive by a car you have some more beautiful things to see, like; Salona was an ancient city and capital of Roman province on the Dalmatian coast. Salona is situated near today's town of Solin, about 5 km from Split. (5min drive) Fortress of Klis is a medieval fortress situated above a village with the same name of Klis, about 10 km from Split (10min drive) --> it's that fortress where Game of Thrones was filmed. In the pic, that's a view of Split. Cities of Omiš and Trogir as well. I love Trogir soooo much personally. Very near Omiš, you can go to Cetina river and go kayaking. It's super uper per er fun! (At this point I'm starting to regret making this topic because I just wanted to say "hey guys come to Split", but I went to far) Alright lmao I definitely need to stop now. This took almost 2 hours. Instead of some pics, here's some videos. Come. Pharrell Williams - Happy ( Split , Croatia ) It's joy, it's Split Duke Dumont - I Got U ( Split , Croatia version )
