Team Kaist's DRC-Hubo robot completed the course in less than 45 minutes A South Korean robotics team has won the Darpa Robotics Challenge. The contest is a battle of robots on an obstacle course meant to simulate conditions similar to the 2011 Fukushima nuclear plant disaster. Team Kaist's DRC-Hubo humanoid robot defeated 22 others to win the top $2m prize from the US Department of Defense's Darpa research unit. The robots had an hour to complete a series of tasks, such as a driving a car and walking up steps. The challenge involved a series of tasks for the robots to complete, somewhat autonomously, with intermittent connectivity with their operators to simulate real disaster conditions. The challenge was the first where robots performed without being tethered and there were plenty of hard falls, soliciting groans and laughter from the crowds at the contest in Pomona, California. The other tasks the robots were set included getting out of a car, opening a door, drilling a hole in a wall, turning a valve and crossing rubble either by clearing a path or walking over it. Team Kaist was the fastest, completing all the tasks in 44 minutes and 28 seconds. Team IHMC Robotics came second, winning $1m, and Tartan Rescue's Chimp robot was third, winning $500,000, a day after taking a hard fall and then wowing the crowd by getting back up and back to work without human help. The contest also included two mystery tasks over two days - on day one the mystery was pulling a lever and on day two it was pulling a plug out of one socket and inserting it into another. Each team was given two attempts to complete the course. There were meant to be 25 teams competing, but Japan's team Hydra dropped out at the last minute because of an electronics accident during training. A Chinese team was also due to compete but reportedly couldn't get their visas in time. Team Kaist took the $2m first prize Source http://www.bbc.com/

Hello everybody reading this topic post, I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in doing scrims with me on stopwatch to make use of it. (it is open idea for others.) I myself am a naturally competitive person looking for some good games. Also the stopwatch server is open most of the time so it might be a chance. List of general game settings - 4v4 (competition style), 3v3 or 6v6 (Aggressive play) - Fast pace, ability to shoot at last second, A game play style, talking to team to improve an advantage - Positive attitudes, ability to keep calm during intense game play, no harsh language (aggressiveness is encouraged), Ready to play entire maps or sets. - EtPro is the mod that is being used on the server. Those are just general expectations game zone, atmosphere, expectations that are used during these sorts of play. and MUST BE FOLLOWED. (If an admin, recruiter, co-leader, leader or even owners would like to moderate for these games it would be helpful. Would be nice to see them there.) These are not official rules or regulations just intended nature for these game styles. Any further talk to do so should be done with the team you have about playing A certain style, I can not be completely helpful without watching you myself for a few maps. Post your names here with interest for these. I'll send you a pm and we can talk from there. We have different time zones so it is a procedure that we will have to go through to make sure everyone is on time. ( I can do pming for other people needing someone to help set-up . always happy to help.) These are lots of fun if played right and you feel like you get that extra game-play you always wanted. THESE ARE OBJECTIVE BASED TO WIN SCORING. I myself will be available to watch any scrims that go on if wanted. these are not just for me. I've been watching the stopwatch go unused for awhile. Its something i'd like to see done for an etpro server. So its up for discussion for people to say yes or no. IF ITS NOT JUST YOU THAN POST THE TEAM AND THEIR NAMES. Regards from, Fr33StylE
