Tranar Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 OK... Right now my kill to death ratio is terrible. It is somewhere in the ballpark of 39% to 61%. I see some of you guys on the server with crazy scores. I am looking for some good pointers to help improve my ratio. Are there any good suggestions for practicing and improving? Any help would be good help. Tranar Quote
Funksdead Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I am by know means the best nor the worst. Practice practice practice..fluid motion, get in a rhythm, stay focused. The big downfall for me is frustration...I get pissed and stop playing MY GAME and play like a bonehead. Knowing the maps is also huge, try to learn every nook and cranny and use that knowledge to your advantage. Different weapons for different maps and game types sometimes helps. Just play your game the way you feel comfortable and develop it from there. Some snipe a lot some hunt...some run like rabbits some camp like turtles. Some use P90 some use desert eagle...I personally dont care what happens, at the end of the game if you are even or to the positive you did your job. There are those that criticize others for what they do, I try not to do that. Kill or be killed ! Quote

I3lessed Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 pick your fights, don't run into a 3v1 pick them off one at a time, if you do get into a fight with more then one guy keep one of them in the others line of fire, either he will shoot his teammate and help you or he will hold off till his teammates out of the way, go for the hs lol Quote
fred Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 don't run into a 3v1 why i do this pleanty of times and win suggestions 1 rush dont camp 2 only weapons that are good are mp5 ak47 ak74u and m40a3 3 use steady aim for cheap kills lol if u like to ads use dead silence. 4 come to scrim pracxtice playing against better players will make u better 5 be patient ur not gonna be a pro calibre player overnight Quote
AntiThought Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 2 only weapons that are good are mp5 ak47 ak74u and m40a3 Sorry Fred I have to disagree. I won't get into what weapons I like because everyone has a preference. (Most) every weapon has its place. My advice watch videos (youtube has some) on S.W.A.T. tactics and MOUT Training in particular a technique called slicing the pie and also check out room clearing. Also when reloading don't be like me and turn corners at the same time. Remember rushing does not equal thoughtless sprinting.... as you come to corners aim down your sight while crouched and use slicing the pie or a flashbang/stun (whichever is most appropriate). Leaning is your friend. When using an automatic weapon use short controlled bursts 2-5 rounds at a time release the trigger then start again. This conserves ammo and increases accuracy. Finally try combinations of weapons and perks that you are uncomfortable with you may just find a class that suits you surprisingly well. Quote

coheed Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 stay away from your team. if you clump together you get airstriked, door blocked, nade spammed, collateraled, etc. Quote
Malokyte Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 What's your weapon of preference? SMG, assault rifle, sniper rifle, LMG, shotgun? Best to get used to one specific class of weapons and then move on out to other branches. If the class you wanted to work on doesn't seem to be for you, move on. Actual gameplay mechanics though, listen closely. Use your weapon in the right situation, and keep moving to stay in that situation. SMGs gain power from flanking and are good croud control weapons. As an SMG, use the fact that most of your team are idiots and bottle up and create a clear-cut battle line. Use like 20 seconds to go through a weak point and hit the guys from the flank and a good spray down could easily net your 3 to 5 kills easily. More if you have a good reload cancel weapon or a high powered SMG. Also, be aware that the SMG class is the fastest in the game. Use that speed to your advantage. I see many an idiot camping with a SMG when they should be pushing the offensive. Also, as weapon choice, the MP5 and the AKu have the best damage potential, but the P90 has better damage over time (due to a larger clip). Pick based on preference and comfort. I prefer the AKu due to high damage and a quick reload cancel. Assault rifles are best at mid to long range, so get used to your weapons recoil. However, close range they still pack a punch if handled well. The M4 is a nice starter rifle do to it's low recoil and moderate damage, same with the G36C. However, the AK has greater DPS and you should ultimately try to master the recoil on the weapon. Again, don't camp. You don't get kills that way. Keep the enemy roughly within your optimal range and pick away at them once you see them. The Assault class is less Rambo than the SMG, but you still need to keep an offensive attack on to get kills. And finally, snipers. Mid to long range in an experienced user, closer if you're using an ACOG (and if you are, shame on you). Basically, avoid all auto snipers except for the 50 cal. Kinda self explanatory. The M21 sux balls and is more of an assault rifle than anything else. That other sniper which shall never be mentioned is terribly inaccurate and ultimately just sucks. Use bolt actions primarily, as you don't need to reload the whole clip when all you want is one more shot (cancel the reload). M40 has lower recoil, but less damage, but is usually a better choice. If you get used to it's recoil and slightly buggy aim, the R700 is a better choice, even if it has a smaller clip size. Again, keep your range, but keep aware of how the battle progresses. Don't stay zoomed in all the time, zoom out to get a view of possible threats and new targets. If the battle is getting too close, or people know where you are, move, and fast. Don't use claymores like a pussy because a good player will get you anyways. Use your brain and just get the f*** out of there. It also frees you up a perk. Some people like switching the pistol to a different weapon, but then I never see them use the sniper again. Get used to the pistol, it can deal large amounts of damage, and you knife faster with one. Also never Overkill. God damnit if you use that with a sniper I would hunt you down and feed your balls to chickens if I could get away with it. LMGs follow Assault tactics, but slower movement. Shotgun follows SMG, but slower movement. Quote

While I do agree every weapon has it's place Fred has a point with the weapons listed. Those are pretty much the hardest hitting weapons in the game, and if you have the aim to go with them they are probably the best choice. The downside to those is they often have more recoil than some of the other choices (P90, G36, M4). Some weapons are very situation dependent (Skorp, Shotties). The ones Fred listed are very good all around weapons, excusing the M40. And as for my tip: Deagle. You always want the deagle as your secondary. It packs the biggest punch and you can use it just as efficiently as your primary weapon, sometimes even more so. I've gone matches in our server where I used only my deagle and finished on top of both teams. It's just that good. Quote
Tranar Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks for all the pointers. I think right now my main goal is learning the maps. I have found some of my favorite spots but that is about it. I have also watched soem others play trying to watch what they do. The problem I have is I get caught up in the action and am not paying attention to the map to learn it. Right now I mainly use assault with a little SMG mixed in. It looks like a lot of what I needed to do is practice practice practice. I also know I need to work on focusing my aim. This is a place where many I have watched excel well beyond my skills. Tranar Quote

Duckie Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 lol easiest way to increase kill/death ratio is to... turn on the x3 frag perk, figure out "generally" where the enemy is coming from, and toss all your nades over there... Quote
