Well, the powers that be decided to lock down my work PC that was being used for "free time" exploits.

Just wondering if it's possible to take my .cfg to a Linux machine?

Anyone?

Unless you use etlegacy all your configs and important files should be in your ET folder and subfolders if I'm not mistaken.

You can either copy the files, or if it's in the same machine you could even make a symlink or mount, to share the same mods folders (i.e. etmain, jaymod, etc.) for Linux and Windows without occupying any extra space.

No, its not the same machine.  I wasn't sure if there was any difference in the OS.  I understood that I'd have to copy it, just didn't know if anyone else has successfully done this.

Thanks for the answers.

you might do fresh install for ET, linux had .so files, so if you mean you cut that win version and paste on linux that not gonna work (sorry my english). legacy 2.75 is easiest to install. 2.60b its little bit harder install.

my linux dosent recognice cfg wich are made windows so that copy/paste maybe do the trick.

Basically all the files in your folders like etmain, silent, etpro, jaymod, etc. are the same.

You might need to make some changes to your config for some things, like mouse (e.g. in_dgamouse), or keys that have a different name in Linux, or things like r_ignorehwgamma, but aside from that everything is the same and can be copied as it is.

As regards the configs, I've never had problems, but maybe because even on Windows I always use Unix format for the newline in the text files? I've never edited or saved them with things like notepad that might mess with the format, only used editors 'for coders' like notepad++ or similar.

Like Sunlight said the config files and packages are the same and should be copied to your ~ folder .etwolf.

Other stuff like stuff like executables .sh goes to default game path "/usr/local/games/enemy-territory" - or other path you desire set when install ET. But the truth is you can put them anywhere you want as long as the script has the correct path.

It's pretty simple really. Have fun!
