Ol Smoke Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I have an Acoustic 2-12 120W guitar amp and it is just to darn loud. This thing could play in the Superbowl without even breaking a sweat. Does anyone know a way to quiet guitar amps down ? This amp is so loud I cannot turn it up over 2, and the guitar has to almost be almost turned off. As a result, I cannot get any tone out of the system. In the past I have laid the amp on it's back just to play in a medium size club. I tried to turn it around but it's just as loud out the back. I had the factory check it out and that is the way it is. They said the 40W version would have been the size to get. If there are any electrical types out in =F|A= land who have ideas or do know how to turn down the volume pots, let me know please. Thank you =F|A=Smoke PS I did try to unhook one of the 12" speakers, hoping to cut the power but it didn't help. I pull the plug from the secondary speaker, but I think both are actually primaries. Both of the power cables go inside the amp. Quote
Sakis Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Are you perhaps looking for an attenuator? Something like this: Quote
Shoes Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Unplugging speakers changes impedance. Be careful with that. Attenuators work but can put stress on the output transformers. The only real solution is to get a smaller amp. 1 Quote
