Pabbatt Blue Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I'm 21, and wondering what is the best piece of advice some of the older members or even my age can give. What is the biggest thing you have learned in life so far that you wish you knew to begin with? 1 Quote
Platinum VIP -=HipKat=- Posted July 13, 2017 Platinum VIP Posted July 13, 2017 (edited) Save money! Start a term life insurance policy now, $250,000 at the minimum. Save, save, save. I'm 52 and have shit for savings and unless something big happens, I'm going to be screwed after retirement. Stay in shape. You don't need to be a musclehead but keep yourself healthy and keep your muscles stretched and loose. Don't be an old guy with a walker, all bent over, or have bad knees because you never worked your legs out regularly. Don't smoke, ever. If you do, quit. Smoking will probably be what kills me. HUGE mistake. Don't have kids with the wrong woman. You'll be stuck with someone you hate in your life forever. And finally, follow your heart. Don't be afraid to take chances, just because your head tries to talk you out of it. You don't need the biggest house, the newest car or the same toys as your neighbor. Don't try to be like other people. Just be yourself and make yourself happy. No one else is going to, anyway And at 21, live. Be in your 20's and do the things people should do in your 20's. Travel the world, go to wild parties, be as crazy as you can get away with. When you're in your 30's, it's just like being in your 20's. Age doesn't really kick in until your late 40's. Really, you don't start aging until you think about aging. Seriously, The difference between 21 and 41 is that there is no difference. You can settle down and get married and have kids in your 30's. You can still start a career in your 40's. You're better prepared for it anyway. In your 20's explore the world, and do everything you can to experience life as a free young person. Trust me on this one. Don't look back one day and think, "damn, I should have done that" Edited July 13, 2017 by -=HipKat=- 5 Quote
