Ol Smoke Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 (edited) 1975. Outside of Barstow, California. Sitting on my hopped up Honda 175 Trials motorcycle at the starting line for the famous Barstow to Vegas cross country motorcycle race. I look over to my left and there is a guy on a 400 CZ with a small puppy sitting on the gas tank. The tank had carpet glued to it so the dog could hang on. The dog had goggles and a red bandana around his neck. The next thing I see is the bike wheelies up and takes off with the dog hanging on. They finished the race in Las Vegas in 20th position. The driver never wrecks and the dog never falls off. The dog actually loves it. Here is what it looked like. This picture was taken by a photographer at the race. He was between me and my friend at the starting line in 1975. John McCowen and Cookie. John's wife put the goggles and scarf on just after this picture was taken.
