Hi hi, wanted to know, was it just a trial version that you got with your computer, or a full fledge one?

If it's a paid version and not a trial version, here to help ya out:

According to Microsoft Office 2010 Technology Guarantee, if you purchased, installed, and activated a qualifying Microsoft Office 2007 product between March 5, 2010, and September 30, 2010, you are eligible to download Office 2010 at no additional cost.
To upgrade, please go to this website:

edit: seems that the webpage doesn't exist anymore... Thus ya might be able to seek some help here: https://support.office.com

Well then the easiest way would be to just contact their support team!

They are also here for such cases.

Did you buy a new computer? AFAIK, OEM computer (re)sellers do not sell PC-s with full version of MS Office installed, that would raise the price of a computer. And they don't want that, since the competition on OEM computer sales market is fearsome.

I find it very odd that MS Office upgrades itself without user intervention, never heard of it and I work with Windows OS over 20 years now. So my guess is that you did initiate upgrade somehow, even if not intentionally. Probably through automatic Windows Upgrade. This is why Automatic upgrades should never be allowed on Windows, it is just not predictable enough.

If, however, you did had a full version of it, you should contact Microsoft Helpdesk. And you had the product key, you just didn't bother to look for it and write it down. There are specialized software programs which can do that (look for product keys).
