I did that with a squirrel once.  I didn't try to bite it, though.  I just wanted to get a closer look! :D

That reminds me once I tried to catch a squirrel and I was successfull (I didn't believed but I really was), but then it scratched on my hands with the sharp claws and my hand started bleeding, but I've never tried to do anything like that after that incident :D
