Tales from the Crypt, the cult classic HBO television show, based on the classic 50s comic series, will be coming back to television this fall. Revealed by TNT at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, via The Hollywood Reporter, this new anthology series will be led by M. Night Shyamalan, coming off his recent horror film, The Visit.

The new series will consist of a two-hour block of both short and long-form storytelling. It will contain original and new stories, exec produced by Shyamalan and his partner at Binding Edge Pictures, Ashwin Rajan. More information about the new Tales series is scarce as of this moment.

Executive VP of Programming at TNT, Sarah Aubrey, said that the two-hour horror block will have TNT working with top talents and make the channel a stand-out by breaking free of the traditional rules of programming. TNT is filling the demand for horror on television, following stand-out shows like American Horror Story and The Walking Dead, as well as hitting the newer market of standalone storytelling.

"I couldn’t be more excited to be teaming up with Kevin Reilly, Sarah Aubrey, and the entire TNT team in this unique endeavor," explained Shyamalan. "To be part of such a beloved brand like Tales From the Crypt, something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can't wait to dive into."

The original comic series, from EC Comics and William Gaines, debuted in 1950 and spawned both numerous films and the cult classic HBO series which ran from 1989-1996. There's no confirmation whether or not the Crypt Keeper, voiced by John Kassir during the HBO run, will appear on the new TNT series. Tales from the Crypt is projected to land on the network this fall.

Sceptical.

Was a great series. Lots of blood, nudity and language. Classic horror jokes. Horror movie production values.  Was a great adult show.

Being revived on TNT? Not the brightest of ideas. I expect a watered down shit show of PG-13 garbage. Used to get TNT when I watched cable and they butchered movies with censorship. If they plan on doing the same to TFTC then the show is going to be a waste of the original fan's time.
