The risks have grown

Only in the past few months, an attack on the U. S. Office of Personal Management (OPM) by a sophisticated nation-state actor resulted in the theft of the highly personal and detailed records of more than 21 million people. Hacktivist and terrorist groups have successfully defaced websites and launched denial-of-service attacks, which disabled access to numerous networks and systems, and leaked sensitive and private information collected from targeted organizations.

I don't think it's the weapon we should worry about; instead, we should worry about the person/organisation using the weapon.

And what would happen if we have no electricity?

And what would happen if we have no electricity?

That aint the point of the hackers, the thing is, there's so many shits around the world that we're completely unaware of it and they know it, since they have knowledge and power to show it out, they expose it obviously, as it has been done during these days with that cheating server site that exposed entire user data base. Obviously the actions that they re doing aren't nice, but sometimes it shows the stuffs that are being hidden right infront of our faces entire time.

Most hackers aren't about exposing information. Most hackers are about making money, for instance by means of ransomware, spamming, phishing, etc.

Well read the Book "Black out"

it really shows you the point for hackers to control a Land.

Its a German Book tho but

This is what its based on let me translate

Copy´n Paste:

"In a cold February day the light in Italy wents black.

In Europe all electricitysystems crashes.

Power stations needs to powerdown.

The italian Ex-Hacker and computer scientist Piero Manzano established a manipulation

of the intelligence electric meter.

This is one way to control a Land for sure there are others but its a way and I think we should not forget about that.

Its a target for hackers it already happened in the past.

As this example shows.

The 2009 Brazil and Paraguay blackout

Media such as Slashdot[10] and 60 Minutes reported [11] that the outage was the work of hackers. However, in December, 2010, Wikileaks released a US diplomatic cable which suggested otherwise. The cable also reported that it

represented a loss of 28,000 megawatts - or 45 percent of total Brazilian consumption at that instant - of electricity and left an estimated 87 million residents without power. Scrutiny has been intense and speculation rife over the cause of the incident, in large part due to the recent announcement of Rio as the host of the 2016 summer Olympics.
