SiD Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Type: Horror Survival, Third PersonDev: CapcomPublisher: CapcomSteam Price: $19.99Lowest: $14.99 (GreenmanGaming)Bundled?: NeverPros: Great story. Pure Horror Survival. Focuses on atmosphere rather than jump scares. Improved HD textures and gameplay. Multiple characters/endings make for multiple playthroughs.Cons: Some puzzles are just plain annoying. Missing the live action cutscenes. http://store.steampowered.com/app/304240/ About This GameThe game that defined the survival-horror genre is back! Check out the remastered HD version of Resident Evil.In 1998 a special forces team is sent to investigate some bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Upon arriving they are attacked by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and are forced to take cover in a nearby mansion. But the scent of death hangs heavy in the air. Supplies are scarce as they struggle to stay alive.Graphics More detailed graphics that retain the horror. The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models. Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic. High-Resolution Environments - We've increased the resolution of the background environments by recreating them with a mix of high-res static images, plus animated 3D models. Widescreen Support Widescreen (16:9) is supported, so players can experience a greater sense of immersion. In widescreen mode, the screen will scroll. The parts of the screen that get cut off on the top and bottom will scroll into view automatically depending on the character's position. You can switch the display mode during gameplay in real time. Sound & New Controls High-Quality Sound - The audio has been remastered to increase the sampling rate, and of course 5.1ch output is also now supported. New Controls You can play using the original control scheme or an alternate control scheme that lets you just push the analog stick to move in the direction you want to go. You can switch the control scheme during gameplay in real time. 2 Quote
gibson66 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Are you going for a total biscuit style? Quote
SiD Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Semi. I could never touch that dude's style appropriately. lol. He's proper as hell. And has more a more opinionated and thorough approach. I started with Let's play. Got bored. Tried a thorough review, got bored. Now trying this method as it's a little more fun, gives a more unbiased look, and just pretty much gives me an excuse to go through my backlog of games. And I mean, it's one hell of a backlog. I want to go back and try full reviews again, once I get my shit settled. Quote

I have respect for anyone who puts their own work into the public. I think your videos could benefit from a little focus in terms of what they're trying to get across. Note that even though total biscuit is doing a semi-"Let's play" in his "WTF is...?", he still talks about the game, what makes it good, and what makes it bad (that's what I meant by "total biscuit style." Combining a review and a let's play into an entertaining but informative video that demonstrates the mechanics of the game while providing in-depth commentary). Right now it feels like you have a lot to say about what's going in the game (closer to run-through with commentary) but I leave the video not knowing much about the game or how it relates to the entire Resident evil series. I'm not by any means saying your videos are bad or lacking interesting content (I personally enjoy watching them), I'm just throwing a few ideas out there that might strengthen them in the long run. And of course, you're welcome to dismiss everything I just said. Totally fine with that. 1 Quote
SiD Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Wtf man. That was just low. And rude. Like really. Wtf? Omg. WTF. Hah. Yeah no worries. I hear ya loud and clear. I've looked into TB's way of going over games and it's daunting that he can be so clear and precise while playing. For the longest time I thought that he had recorded audio over his playing because he's usually very on point and has quite clear thoughts, even when he seems very focused in game. However I've seen some of his live shit and he's just a very well thought out speaker. I, on the other hand, lose focus real easy when I'm playing. I have trouble concentrating on what I'm doing in game and speaking my mind on things, especially when it's a first play through or blind preview. I've caught myself in former videos stumbling on what I was trying to say, or being a little incoherent because I was too busy concentrating rather than presenting. I have had a few different ideas on how to approach this sort of thing and I will try them out in future videos. Totally appreciate the feedback though, man. It just helps me look at the areas that need to be improved. Edited February 1, 2015 by SiD 1 Quote
CruelKind Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I had pre-ordered this game weeks ago, and forgotten completely I had already bought it until I saw this thread! Thanks for the reminder, downloading from my steam acct now. I did post a comment in the youtube chan, but to repeat it here: Nicely done. I think Wesker is the helicopter pilot, as he comes back at the end flying it. (Over the greenhouse?) And do you remember, choosing Jill means she can play Moonlight Sonata on the piano, and chris had to work at it forever. On the other hand, Chris could carry more than Jill, did they fix that? How sexist, looking back.. lol. Keep up the good reviews! Quote
