Mr.Karizmatic Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Survival racer Distance is now available to purchase on PC via Steam Early Access. Distance takes the action of arcade racing and places it in an explorable, atmospheric world, so instead of doing laps, players will be trying to survive from point A to B. Players take control of a unique car that can boost, jump, rotate, and fly. Early Access is priced at $19.99 (currently discounted to $16.99). Developer Refract explained its reasoning behind choosing Steam Early Access: “We think Early Access is a great avenue for us to continue to iterate on Distance with new players the same way we’ve been doing it since we released our private Alpha to Kickstarter backers in August 2013. We’re still working on improving many aspects of the game and we’re excited to continue to get new feedback based on our changes.” The developer also offered some insight into what will change between Early Access and launch: “The Adventure mode will have more content as well as a more fleshed out story. The multiplayer experience will be updated based on feedback we receive from the community. The level editor will be iterated on to improve user friendliness. We also plan to experiment with at least one new car, an in-game announcer, a replay system, and randomly generated tracks.” The full game is due to release on PC in 2015, with plans to be in early access for between 6-12 months. Refract recently announced that Distance will also be coming to PlayStation 4 at some point next year. Quote
