NoGooD Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 So I'm looking to create a virtual linux install and wanted to know if anyone had some suggestions. I'm looking to do a linux install on my PC. I use parallels on my mac for my XP and linux installs and it works great, but I'd like one connected to my desktop as well. Preferably what I would like to do is create a virtual server. I've used Microsofts Virtual PC in the past, but i'm sure there are a more out there that I'm unaware of or haven't tried yet. Quote
Krauersaut Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I've tried both, VMWare (I think it was Workstation) and VirtualBox. If you don't have any special requirements, I would suggest trying out VirtualBox. It's interface is quite similar to Parallels. Oh, and it's free for sure. Quote
NoGooD Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Best OS emulation ever. lol....pure Kwality Quote
gigabyte Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I am taking a linux, and a windows server 03 class. I bought a external HD and i have three virtual systems on it using vmware. vmware hasn't given me any problems. Although to be on full screen you must install vmware tools. Its easy on windows but installing vmware tools on linux, is a lil more complicated. Quote

Depending on what flavor of Linux it is vmware tools will put an RPM install file right on your desktop, double click and done. You must be trying to install from binaries? Quote
