Antimony Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 http://youtu.be/Vvef_mV_xm8 F.E.A.R. Online’s open beta test begins on October 7th, ahead of full launch on the 17th, and signups are now active. Go! Run! Register! It’s free! Or perhaps not. The original F.E.A.R. takes place almost entirely in a succession of rather ordinary office buildings but that doesn’t matter because the combat is absolutely splendid. Bullets have tremendous impact and slow motion slides across debris-strewn rooms, ending in a chunky boot to the face, are like a John Woo shoot-out with weighty momentum in place of balletic grace. Thanks to a hard-working community, the multiplayer component is still available to play and I’m not sure how F.E.A.R.O. intends to lure people into its own take on the series’ combat and…gulp…lore. full article: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/09/30/free-game-fear-online/#more-237575 Quote
SiD Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 The article writer is a tool. Also word up on this: Aeria Games has a hand in this. Avoid like the f***ing plague. Trust me. As a former gamesage, avoid this company. They buy up IPs, start out good, when f***ing suck the soul out with insane cash shop items. Aeria is F2P evil. Quote
SiD Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 KABLAMO! Called it like a f***in' psychic! AW YISS BOI-YEE! Out not even a full day. Floppin' hard. lmfao! I'm sure it will still make money because half the F2P population of gamers are f***ing retarded. Still. This is gold. Here: Steam Store Page: User reviews: Mostly Negative (85 reviews) 72% Here's some awesome quips I've read going through the reviews: Sadly, it's ruined by pay-to-win weapons. A real shame. Maybe this will get better over time, but right now, give it a miss. There is no permanent way to buy a character (that I saw) only rentals. Meaning you have to keep paying for the enhancements your used to as each character has a different number of enhancements available. The crafting system looks lackluster at best, and at worst appears designed to draw you into buying resource packs. I went in here with high expectations giving the F.E.A.R title was dissapointed with final outcome feels like a janky pay2win rip off game definatley not worth installing LOL, this is pure genius. When you get killed, you can press B to buy the overpowered gun of the person who just killed you. They're not even trying to hide the fact that it's Pay 2 Win anymore. It's a feature! They charge for PvE.Yep, you read right. You can do 3 COOP missions per 8h, which rounds up to around 1h if that. Then, you either need to pay for more one-time tickets, or bugger off for 8h.Let me say this again. They charge for PvE. They block off COOP completly behind a pay/timewall. As previous reviews suggest, it is a free-to-play, play-to-win.I would love to buy items with in game money and be able to keep them. However, every single item you do not craft yourself, (which looks like it will take a good 2-3 weeks of grinding.) you do not get to keep because of the rent-a-system. Quote
