Version Changer isn't working correctly?

Today I installed the 1.7 patch and the version changer. However, it won't let me switch back to 1.6 and I have tried restarting the computer, and running them as administrator. I don't have the disk so I can't re install it. Occasionally it allows me on 1.6 but it says "Error, Server is a different version. 1.6" Can anyone help?

The version changer doesn't work right for everyone, for me it stopped working when I made the switch to Windows 7 :\

Amber - same problem.

 

If I turn version changer off or turn my computer off, then I lose the ability to go to 1.6.  I have to uninstall and re-install COD4 Version Changer every single time this happens.  We are not alone.

I work around this by never updating the selector when prompted and it seems to work fine. I would have problems like you described and frequent reinstalls, until I narrowed it down to the update

I have the opposite problem sometimes, I go into 1.6 and get stuck there, can't go back to 1.7. What I do is close COD4, open a different patch like 1.5, close COD4, open it again using 1.7 from the patch selector. That'll always get me back in.

Hey guys, just tried the patch selector, now i cannot get back to 1.7. I have tried everything above including UAdave way. Any ideas?

I have the same problem :/ I have a version 1.7 but I cannot come back on 1.6 version

Mine comes with the error

 

couldn't load image 'loadscreen_mp_broadcast_small'

 

now i can change to version 1 (cool) but i cannot get back to 1.6 or 1.7 as each time it says above. I am trying to find out where these versions are located and then ill try a delete then reinstall of the versions. However i cannot do a full re- install as i have lost the disks (mega). any ideas anyone on how I or the anyone else can get this sorted?

Perhaps establish new server (= FIA = HArdcore, Killhause HC24 / 7 and TDM LOW Ping NO LAG) to the version 1.7? Is there such option??

Sqleyled, ok i have managed to get it back to 1.6 so far, but if i try and go to 1.7 in any sort of way it comes with the above error. Not sure if you are getting the same? I have tried to reinstall 1.7, but it says it is already installed, and by the looks of it i have lost my profile :-(. ill keep you informed if I get anywhere

"If you are going this route then you will have 2 installs. You have to reinstall CoD to keep the 1.6....make sure you install into a separate folder, I have my 1.7 in "activision 2" folder and 1.6 in "activision" folder. You'll just have to copy your user files from your current game to the new install. Also xfire will only work in game for one of these at a time. I can help with that also if you need it."
