GraveDigger
OK.., so check this out, I have a old shitty e-machine that I do all my gaming off of. I say its shitty but in reality its a decent machine and it has been upgraded every way possible. I have 1 gig of memory in it at the moment because when i add an additional 1 gig of memory it has a tendency to freeze up and crash. I have a complete memory dump. I dont understand why this is happening. Its not faulty memory because I can switch out the mem stick and either one works great--but only 1 at a time. Add the second stick and its just a matter of time before CRASH! I am confused. Is there a setting that I need to adjust somewhere? wtf? IntenT-
Are both sicks of memory from the same manufacturer? Are they both the same speeds? Some motherboards don't like to run certain brands of memory, and if they are different speeds they are supposed to run at the lowest of the 2 sticks rated speed, but sometimes this can cause the same issue your describing. If they are both the same, it is probably the slot itself, ie. the motherboard.
Administrators JoeDirt Posted February 8, 2010 Administrators Share Posted February 8, 2010 Are these the original ram sticks that came with comp or did you add one? If you have added one they might not be compatible, also you can download cpuz and check so you dont have to pull them one by one.

But I can put that in with one of the PNY 1 gig sticks and CRASH. So you think its just the slot itself? does it matter which slot I have only 1 stick in? During bootup it shouldnt matter I thought. Administrators JoeDirt Posted February 9, 2010 Administrators Share Posted February 9, 2010 No it will not matter which slot you use, I guess test both sticks independently , also in cpuz check memory timings and voltage and make sure its the same, if both sticks work independently in either slot and timing and voltage are correct then it could be your power supply.
