Sup.

Asking because I'm trying to figure this out. ..Sure this is more simple than I think.

I, for now, share one desktop with another person. We have been sharing the same COD 4 game for the last few years. I thought about buying a second copy, but, playing on a laptop sucks ass. I like a big screen. I found out that if I ever apply, I'll need my own GUID/account. Is it possible to have 2 game keys on one computer with 2 steam accounts?

Your GUID is based on your installation key I believe, so each copy of the game will have it's own seperate GUID, that's why you can reinstall and still have the same one. I'm not sure if this would work via two different steam accounts, but I assume so, since each account would have a different copy of the game.

You can set up the PC with a 2nd harddrive/install (you can even use the same version of Windows). You can use one version of windows for yourself, and let your brother use the other. The only catch is that it would require a reboot to switch between the drives (and you'd need to purchase another harddrive, but you can get one for less than $50).

Alright, sounds groovy.

Just a ponder- I noticed in COD4 multiplayer options is a 'Game Key' option. Is it possible to just switch out keys when you want to play a different account? Would that work?

Edit: Oh shit! Dude, what about an external hard drive? That would work all the same wouldn't it? I have like 5 of them.

It's a possibility, not sure if that would make a difference, you might want to do some googling. An external hard-drive would work for what he said, but do you really want to have to boot between two installs of windows? Wouldn't having two installs of COD4 work fine?

Well, that's kinda what I meant. I could do a separate install of steam/COD4 onto my external drive. No extra windows install necessary, really. If it works like I think it would, then I can just plug and play a second copy. May have to do testing!
