Ol Smoke Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 You are going to a new job interview today. The company is computer based production and design. They are looking for a bright, intelligent, and well versed in computer usage person.. Now go look into a mirror and look at yourself. Are you the kind of person they are looking at hiring? The person doing the interview today is 33 years old, male, dark hair, 5' 10", 155 #, nice skin and teeth, married with one son about 8 years old. He does not wear fancy watches or jewelry, or eyeglasses. He usually wears dress pants, cotton shirt with or without a jacket, and black dress shoes. Now. How would you impress this man, that you can do the job and you are the one he is looking to hire? The answer to this will astonish you. Quote
Angry Mosquito - Alex Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 turtleneck lmfao =) jk, design jobs are not that fancy dress, and designers r usually bit nuts, so something not ordinary could do the trick (not caquis and cotton shirt... but something wierd =) )? Quote
^SaTorI Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 In my profession I have had to make the selection interview and evaluation of employees in different companies, public and private, if you passed the psychometric what we expect from an applicant's is self-confidence, honesty, ambition (as necessary) good attitude and ability to work in teams. Regardless of the heading of the company Quote
Ol Smoke Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) Satori is pretty close to this one. A lot of the stuff I put on there is smoke and mirrors to make you think more than you should. If you know the material needed to do the job, then let that be what you stand on when you are being interviewed. Know your abilities and knowledge of their product. Then... dress in comfortable clean clothes that you are accustomed to, don't show up in a shirt and tie if you have never worn one. Keep your hands crossed in your lap holding your resume or other papers. Never wear perfume or smelly deodorant. Have your hair combed and trimmed nicely. Never wear baggy jeans or shirts. Have pen ready to write with. Be polite and concise in your answers. Don't ramble. Sit up straight but not stiff. When answering questions, always pause and think before you do, but never more than 2 seconds. Wear clean shoes with nice socks. Red or yellow socks have an air of intelligence about them, if they are classy. Pants should be ironed and should be dark grey, khaki, or black. The most important thing is honesty. And always show an interest in working in teams and with others. Outside of your scholarly achievements at school, never say "I have accomplished or done or thought up" unless that is what is called for in the conversation. Never drink tea or coffee before going to an interview. And try to empty your bladder before they call you in, but let the receptionist know. Never talk to the other people waiting to be interviewed. Sit quietly and read. Don't play with your ipad or do texting on your phone while waiting in the area. Turn your phone off when you are there. When sitting down, always smooth your pants or dress, to keep wrinkles from appearing. Never cross your legs when across from the interviewer. Never fold your arms. Never scratch your head. Always have a partial smile on your mouth to keep the corners of your mouth turned up. You may have to practice this. It will make your eyes brighten up as if you are interested in that person. Never lie about not knowing something. They will sometimes throw in questions they know you will not know the answer to. Answer, "I don't know about that" "I have never studied that..." or "I don't recall that I have read about that". That should get you through it. How do I know these things? I studied in a lecture seminar about how to conduct interviews and what to look for in new employees. It hasn't changed. Even at Disney or Intel or Microsoft, the process is the same. Good luck Edited September 30, 2013 by Ol' Smoke Quote
