Philip Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I had a problem with a lot of programs not connecting/timing out (Xfire, CoD4, Steam, Teamspeak etc.). So I installed Win7 64 bit and still the problem excists... Everything else works perfectly. Xfire: After timing out and exiting the program I get the message from the Exception Log (See Attachment) CoD4 worked fine and suddenly I couldn't connect to any server (timing out) Steam wont update it says : "You have to be connected to the internet" I am really pissed off... My config :Win 7 Professional 64 bit 8 gb ram, intel i7 3.40 ghz 3.70 quad core, ati radeon 6870 1gb, 1 tb hard disc and a gigabyte gaz68d3b3 motherboard. I wrote to Xfire, Overclockers and Techforum but got just one response which had nothing to do with the problem... This is my last resort. Peace from Austria... Xfire Exception Log.txt Quote
yellow flash Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 what connection you have is it stable or 3g coz if its 3g most games wont support it specily its weak connection so it dc for really small time or tries to find better connection and it could break the connection timing. Quote
Chameleon Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) Disregard my statement.. I read his topic wrong Checking windows firewall or for exceptions wouldn't be it, if he was fine then it hit.. Edited May 18, 2013 by Ph0eniX Quote
jaie Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 are you an administrator on the computer? what antivirus / firewalls do you use? try reinstalling your nic drivers try disabling any nic you're not using. have you changed the way they connect to the intenet before - eg. proxies or anything like that? what message do you get on cod4? Are your windows updates up to date? How do you connect to the internet? When did the problem start? Did you install anything on your computer around the time the problem started? Can you connec to these in safemode with networking? can you put a screenshot of your running processes when you can't connect 1 Quote

Can you connec to these in safemode with networking? can you put a screenshot of your running processes when you can't connect I'm using Avira antivirus (Free Version) and a Windows Firewall. When I installed the new System (yesterday) I didn't have NIC drivers and graphics drivers installed, so I installed them both. I didn't change the way they connect to the internet. On CoD4 I get the message saying : "Server connection timed out" I updated punkbuster also and still no change. Windows updates are up to date I THINK... And after two updates installed I disabled the updates. but the problem was happening on the old system also. I connect to the internet trough a cable. The problem with Xfire started about a month ago, whilst with CoD4 about a week ago, with other programs I really don't know because I haven't been using them as often. I installed a lot of programs on my old system but on the new one just NIC and Graphics Drivers and Also Xfire and CoD4. I didn't try connecting trough safemode because I honestly don't know how. The screenshots with and without "show processes from all users" are attached bellow. I'm very thankfull for your quick responses. I really am. And if anyone wants to check anything trough TeamViewer I will download it. Thank you all once again. Edited May 19, 2013 by Philip Quote
Philip Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 I solved the problem, I went on the browser IP or whatever and under settings I put the security level to "low". Yeah, it was that simple... Quote
