about mines...

Sometimes people can walk/run through a 'friendly' minefield without the mines getting off and sometimes they go off very easily. I've tried to figure this out but I fail Optical illusion, dribbling skills or ordinary cheat?? What's the secret about mines?

Engys set them off, any other class doesn't I believe. Unless your on Hardcore, then no matter the class, everyone trips mines.

I mostly play in harcore and even then it seems some guys are invulnerable for friendly mines. But I'll have a good look again.

It depends on server to server. Here are the normal game sets.

 

-If friedly fire is on then arverone can set on the mine

-If friendly fire is off the the team cant destroy own landmines.

-If friendly fire is off etpub alows only egies to set them off.

I think on hardcore only engies set the mines off but the explosion still gets everyone within range. On jaymod/nq only the owner of the mine can set it off. Not sure for etpub though, probably same as hardcore.

g_friendlyFireOpts [bitmask]

 

Allows greater control over friendly fire events.

 

Available options are:

 

1

Landmines ALWAYS damage teammates regardless of g_friendlyfire setting

2

Allow 'grenade boosting' when friendly fire is off

4

Non-engineer players do not trigger landmines on their own team

 

Default is 0

 

so the server can set things so that any of this is the case.

 

dunno about jaymod/NQ.

i suggest if you have trouble with mines on jmod/nq you shouldn't be playing those mods anyway. go to pub or etpro server lol.
