Seriously tho, shut down as many background programs as possible. For my gaming rig, I have bare bones running and my ping is about 20-30 better than on my regular PC.

Ping is more related to distance than your internet speed...sure if you have crappy internet and are downloading something the ping will increase but you get to a point to where distance is your main problem.

Low ping is good.

 

Having little to nothing installed/running on your computer can help, but can only do so much.

Other computers on your network running does not help.

Dont download or stream anything while gaming.

low ping is good? then i consistently have one of the best pings in the games i play. which is bad new for me. i thought low was bad. which allowed me to blame my poor skills on it. now i have to face the fact that i'm struggling to be mediocre. gulp.

Ping is the time in milliseconds it takes for information to get to and from your computer to the server. High ping means it takes longer, which can cause a delay if its extremely high. Depending on the game, and how how it deals with anti-lag, higher ping can be an advantage or it could be a disadvantage.
